Is Beck totally insane?---- Of course he is. What a useful idiot this guys is! The bourgeoisie are laughing their asses off saying, "Go Beck go. Confuse the masses!!!!"
The Egypt uprising has raised the stakes for Beck -- and Fox. In the past two weeks, Beck has viewed events in Egypt through his own rather warped filter. He claims that the rebellion is not about the people, not about democracy. Instead, he says, it's a move by radical Islamists to take over Egypt, as part of a larger plan to install a caliphate that stretches from the Middle East through Europe and toward the United States. And he contends that "uber-leftists" and Islamic extremists are "plotting together" toward this end. Last week on his radio show, he declared, "Groups from the hard-core socialist and communist left and extreme Islam will work together because they are both a common enemy of Israel and the Jew. . . . Islam wants a caliphate. Communists want a communist new world order. They'll work together, and they'll destabilize. Because they both want chaos."

I doubt he'll be there much longer. I was reading about how Fox News was picking his "theory" apart on Friday , I think.

Yeah. Bill O'Reilly was taking him to task for having very-little-to-nothing in the way of actual evidence to support his theories.

Funny, 50 years ago he'd be saying that communism was a jewish conspiracy but now its anti-jew?

I would just like to point out the irony of that last phrase. Its fine, I am a true believer in the people, and I know that Glenn's illusion cannot last forever. Sooner or later, the people will see that he defends the ruling class of millionaires and billionaires.
The truth must like a stake be driven through the heart of capitalist vampires.

Glenn Beck is a loonatic, I think more and more people are starting to realise. I watch his show when Comedy Central has shitty movies on. It's hilarious.

Glenn Beck isn't a lunatic, he says that stuff because it serves the Capitalist agenda, and also more specifically it serves Fox/Murdoch.
He does know he's lying, though.

So long as he keeps his core audience subservient to corporate rape, his benefactors aren't going to let him go. However, if he starts becoming a liability, you'll see said backers dropping him as quickly as they possibly can. Until that time, though, he serves his purpose - keeping the people who listen to him divided, spiteful, and pro-business/Wall Street.

I'm pretty sure he's a lunatic, he compared himself with MLK. He also thinks there's a conspiracy with everything. He's a paranoid schyzo, I honestly think he believes what he's saying

I don't think, and I suspect many will agree, that all right wing, pro-corporate rule ideologues are cut from the same cloth. There are a few shades of grey between Beck and Limbaugh. Beck is several degrees closer to 'batshit insane' conspiracy theorist crackpot than Limbaugh is. That is, if Beck is presenting the public with his genuine views.

Exactly. He's admitted before that he shouldn't be taken seriously (this advice, ironically, should definately be taken seriously), even though he portrays his show as a serious commentary on politics.

Actually, Beck is shedding ratings and advertisers like they're going out of fashion; his audience from Jan 2010 to Jan 2011 declined a stark 39%, the biggest single drop for any cable "news" show. He lost half his viewers aged 25 to 54, and with them many of his sponsors. With the Egypt reporting it's become clear that the man is unhinged and probably will not last. He is marginalizing himself and other conservatives are drawing sharp lines, because they do not want to be associated with this kind of crazy.
Murdoch's an evil motherfucker, but he's still a capitalist at heart. This isn't a left-wing magazine, almost all of which lose tremendous sums of money as an accepted fact and appeal to their readers to make up the difference. This is news as a commodity, sold to advertisers on the basis of ratings, and Beck is no exception to the rules - if his ratings continue to decline, his show may not always be on Fox News.

I think he'd make a good standup comic.

I think that Beck will be around for a while. Roger Ailes, the president of Fox News and the highest paid employee of News Corp, is a big Glenn Beck fan. No matter how paranoid Beck gets, Ailes will continue to support him because Ailes is a paranoiac, too. He travels around in a caravan of security personnel (mercenaries) and fancies himself a target of terrorism. He's kept Beck even though Beck has lost most of his advertisers. He'll keep Beck around because Beck reflects his own paranoia about the world.

As an ex listener of Beck and Rush. You are right. Beck is the conspiracy patriot. He would use McCarthyism and other scare tactics to bring a political agenda across.
Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Does he really care for America? No. All he cares is the money he gets with memberships and ads.

i don't think Beck is going away either. he's a useful fool for the corporate elite. Rupert Murdoch doesn't just own media channels to make money. He does so for political reasons as well.
Beck is an example of what's called "the paranoid style" in American politics, all the conspiracy theories...it's a staple of American politics. There are conspiracy theorists on the left too....like the people who say the attack on the World Trade Center was an inside job by the right wing.
People can see that things aren't working out in ways they like. But the layers of institutions are complex, and their inner workings, whether of government or the corps, are hidden from view to most folks. explanations in terms of the plots of bad people are terribly simplistic form of thinking, but can appeal to certain people.

I read that Beck takes a lot of his conspiracy shit from infowars.com
he gets away with it because he has a whole fucking cult of brainwashed conspiracy theorists.

Glenn Beck is a actually very intelligent guy. He made millions.
He believes in nothing except money and in making it he is doing very well.
To say that Beck actually stand behind his ideas would be crazy - he is the same puppet as people in TV commercials, nothing - juts a talking statue.
Problem is not Beck, but the group that composes his texts.
