I have read Secrets, Lies, and Democracy and it is quite good. I recommend it absolutely, but I must add Manufacturing Consent to any list of essential Chomsky. Along with Edward Herman, Chomsky smashes once and for all the myth of the free, muckraking media--revealing it as more sophisticated but just as systematically biased as any state-run media in totalitarian states.

The Chomsky i began with was Understanding Power, which is a book of question and answer sessions throughout the early to mid-90's. This book i think is a great introduction to chomsky as it goes through many different subjects and gives a very broad chomsky.

They are freaking expensive tho! But much worth it I'm sure. So far I havent read anything challenging, well exept for The Communist Manifest and some Das Kapital by Marx, but all the books Ive read have been quite easy. This should take me some time to read.
Yeah, but anyways. What is the one where they have newspaper stands and on them it says "lies" ?
Ill start with the fist one Ill find from his Quartel, unless they are all in the same book ^_^

be cheap and smart read the books at your library or bookstore, or online.

Most of these aren't very expensive, the small books are $7-$8. The larger books can be up to $30 or so.
Profit over People is a great intermediate book, as it's not quite as easy to plow through as the small books. Another good "easy" book, but not small, is Power and Terror. The accompanying movie is well worth watching as well.

I know what you mean, I need to stop buying so many fucking books. I hardly ever re-read a book anyways. I'm such a dumbshit sometimes.
I'd say read any Chomsky you can get your hands on. He's the best truly leftist voice we have these days, fuck Michael Moore, this is the real shit. Chomsky is a genius, everytime I read something of his I feel smarter. And actually, these are good books to actually buy because they have info you might need to reference or just re-read.

Chomsky's "Rogue States" is an exhaustive treatment of the rule of force in world affairs--very good. I discovered Chomsky years ago in the arena of philosophy of language, he is truly one of the great minds of our time.

Yes indeed, I learned so much just by watching one of his interviews! Imagine a whole book. Media Control looks nice and small. I'm gonna go to the library one of these days and pay a whole dollar for a library card. Stuipid library sucks, over half of it is childrens sections, and they kicked me out for making copies of antiwar fliers
