Hello. I am from Afghanistan, once with an active revolutionary movement and a revolutionary government but defeated by the Imperialist/Islamist nexus.
Long live Dr Najibullah. Long live the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.

Hey Bro, good to have you on the forums.
So I thought stalinists say the USSR invasion of Afghanistan was imperialist?
Anyway great to have an Afghan comrade to tell us how things are over there.
Hope you enjoy your stay.

Infraction given to Political Chucky for this trollish garbage.
I thought long and hard about this, but suppose a guy from Compton, CA or Limerick came here and you asked, "how's the crack?"
Yeah, I thought so. Think next time before you do something this boneheaded.

What a highly offensive, highly childish thing to ask someone who comes from that region. Why not just ask a West African guerrilla "how about those blood diamonds"?
prick.
He may have been offensive and childish, but using insults at the expense of gays isn't much better.

So I thought stalinists
There's no such thing. "Stalinism" as a political marker can just mean just about anything. Where you stand on these issues mostly has to do with which national factions of the communist world you happen to be aligned with at particular points in time.

Maoists and antirevisionists, basically an antirevisionist told me that he condems the soviet invasion, I do not really know anything about it to have an opinion though tbh.
Why, did you think I was trying to cause offence or something?

Considering that the revisionist People's Republic of China together with the Pakistanis were the primary arms suppliers to the western-backed militias like Hekmatyar, all this talk of ideology is pretty much bullshit. They all bent ideology to serve national interests.
If you were China-Pakistan-USA or Albania-aligned, you supported the mujahideen. If you were anyone else, you supported the revolutionary government of Afghanistan.

So where do you stand on the issue exactly, do you have any links to provide some insight, I do not trust reading about these things on wikipedia.

The basic chronology goes like this. The USA took over Afghanistan's patron role after Nazi Germany, with the USSR playing secondary influence in the northern region. There was a competition of aid, but when Zahir Shah got overthrown the direction swung towards the Soviet side. Daoud was a modernizing nationalist and tried to suppress the Islamists. The Islamists found refuge in Pakistan and were armed and trained and set back loose on Afghanistan. While fighting those militias, Daoud started persecuting the communists and in reaction there was a revolution. In the chaos and the crisis from the ongoing civil war, the PDPA requested Soviet military assistance.
What happened next is rather sketchy. The PDPA engaged in an interfaction struggle and the party was being gutted by its leadership. Some say it was Taraki behind it, while others claim that Hafizullah Amin who was the ringleader, with Taraki as a beleagured figurehead. I tend to agree with the latter because Amin took the purges to such an extent that it threatened to destroy the entire party. He also had Taraki killed. During this time, Soviet diplomats put a lot of effort into requesting that jailed socialists be released. Eventually, the spetsnaz took Amin out; the direct soviet intervention came to enforce a peace inside the party.

Ahh well, after thinking about it, I do recognize that it was a bit immature to say, but I didn't mean to imply any type of racial stereo-typical bullshit. From what I understand, 95% of the worlds opium comes from Afghanistan. Had nothing to do with race, more with the situation with Marines securing and cultivating Opium in the region. I wasn't intending to offend the OP, But I do apoligize if I did.:blushing:

Welcome to the site! Hope to see you around and am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the situation in Afghanistan. How are things developing there? How large a role does your movement play in organizing local communities? Enjoy your time here - it's always a joy to meet like-minded people from beyond the U.S.

Thank you and manana for the welcome.
Khad Janana, I wish you wouldn't ignore the dirty role of the Punjabis(Pakistanis), ever the imperialist lapdogs, in the crisis of Afghanistan. Also Robert Gates and Berzezinski have made quite candid comments on the US involvment in Afghanistan as soon as within 3 months of the Revolution of 7th Saur, a whole year before an Soviet troops set foot in Afghanistan.
