Version 3.0 of the Linux operating system Nova Cuba will be presented at the Convention and Fair Informática 2011 taking place this week in Havana.
Developed by young people from the University of Computer Sciences (UCI), this application represents a step forward towards replacing national operating systems and expensive foreign, mainly Windows, its use also is barred by the laws of the blockade.
The operating system Linux Nova Cuban production has been tested successfully on computers of foreign origin, so their ability to function and support is demonstrated.
According to the official launch with variants of Nova Desktop to minimize the sudden change faced by people familiar with Windows. Nova Servers for Telematic Services, Data Center, Network and Development Environments. Finally, a Nova Light for low-performance computers.
It is considered also a native product "made by Cubans for Cubans, achieving unmatched adaptability to the technological conditions of the country"
Boris Moreno, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications said recently that this year it is expected that the new computers assembled in Cuba have installed both the Windows operating system, such as Nova.
