I've heard his name pronounced "K", and I've heard it pronounced "chay", with th CH sounded like CHEW or CHOOSE in English. Which is correct?

Thanks!

I am used to saying che (chay). But I've also heard it pronounced like shay, with the S-H sound of shoe or shrimp. Honestly I believe it just depends on how you would like to say it. The way you decide to say it is refelcted on how Che means something individually for you. There is no right or wrong, there is just Che. Philosophy yeah! PEACE

I also hear quite a few "Shay"s, but in my five years of Spanish class the letter combination "ch" always has a hard sound, as in China. We all say "tch-ina." I have never heard anyone say "sh-ina."

it is just "Che", but the closest thing is probably "Chay" as you have suggested. But try not saying the "y".

Well..from what I understand "Che" is pronounced "tch-e" with the E pronounced as it is in the word "shed" because he got his nickname from the Argentinan slang word for "Friend." "che" is a common word there...and thats how I've heard them say it...

I also believe that its not how you say it that's important, but what it means to you. He's not just a person, but a symbol. Anywho, I pronounce it like Chay cause I think it sounds the best.

I'm learning spanish and they said that the pronaunciation is "dsche". i don't know if it's right and i don't say something to other people which say it in a different way.. everybody means the same. you only should understand it (if you really don't know how to say it, it's the best to say ernesto*smile*)

Hi, iīm from Argentina, and i think the best pronunciation for English ppl is TCHE or TCH-E. Like CH in China
Please, donīt say "Shay" or "Chay" itīs horrible :(. There is no "ei" ending.

"Che" is usead when we want to call to someone who is near but not by his/her name. Itīs like a "hey you".-
I think itīs only used in Argentina :P

As someone who grew up in a Spanish-speaking household, let me join with Markust in saying FOR THE LOVE OF MARX DON'T SAY "CHAY." Spanish is pretty much pronounced exactly as it is written. If I had to write it out phonetically, I'd write it as "Cheh." It is probably more correct to pronounce it as "TCHE" but that may be a little confusing for non-Spanish speakers and the T is almost silent.

youīre wrong ;)

Itīs not a verbal tic. itīs an "Argentinismo" or in other words, a expresion "invented" in Argentina. We use to call to someone, but not by his/her name, just like "hey".-

I guess you could describe the T sound in this way: When you are going to say "Che," put your tongue against your teeth like you are going to say "Tee" but from there just say "Cheh"
