Those lectures are basically just a shortened version of the biography by Francis Wheen. Even down to the allegations about his illegitimate son.
I watched those lectures the other day and was not particularly impressed. I'm still largely undecided on Mark Steel he's on TV all the time and until recently I thought that he was just another labour hack, as he never says anything remotely radical when he's on air.

He was in the SWP in his youth, and later joined the SP.

After I got my brother watching these lectures and the CHE ones, even He is starting to get interested in political things, My mum has started to read some of my political books and is far more open to leftist views in general.

Fantastic, I'm glad he's done some good I've seen him speaking at a SP conference and I'm not doubting his leftist credentials but he's on many political programmes as a pundit or giving short reports and all I ever hear from him is very middle of the road labour party views. Personally I would like a socialist who isn't afraid to actually talk about Marxism or give a Marxist critique in mainstream TV shows.

But I guess he's a journalist first and a Marxist second
