Hello everybody,
I am posting this here to try and get a better understanding of DMT (Dimethyltryptamine), as in, the science behind it. I've done my fair share of psychedelics before growing up, but never DMT. Friends of mine have, and as usual, I'm the only one who held onto my sanity.
Doing various things like shrooms and acid, I, of course, witnessed some really crazy shit. But at the end of the day, I kept my sanity, explaining to myself that what I saw wasn't real and that it was just a relaxing experience where my brain started playing tricks on me.
DMT is the same in many ways. To first understand what DMT is, it's the very compound that allows us to dream every night. I've also heard that when we die, our DMT is released. Whether that's true or not, I'm not quite sure. I haven't done much research on DMT to understand correctly.
But I just got out of a conversation with a friend who came out of DMT trip, and he tried convincing me that everything he witnessed, in which I would eventually witness was truly real and that I was witnessing the "spirit molecule", and not just simply hallucinations.
I tried explaining to him how what he was seeing wasn't real, but he continued on, losing the very sanity I remember him attaining at one time. It's unfortunate really, to abuse the use of psychedelics in order to lose your own sanity. I'm all for people experimenting with psychedelics or pot, or whatever that can't potentially kill you if you're within a safe environment. It just annoyed me when he kept on and on about how science can't explain what he witnessed. I found this to be humorous given that he used to be an atheist and would laugh every time a religious person tried saying that to us about God and angels.
So what is, exactly, the science behind DMT? What triggers it and how exactly does one go about witnessing what they witness as they're tripping out? Surely science can explain much better than the likes of DMT-poppers.
