Looking to buy a new video camera

I'm looking for an inexpensive but reliable video camera. I'm leaning towards buying one that's new. Anyone out there have hands on experience with any newer models of camera matching what I need?

What do you want to use it for? If you just want make videos for youtube there are tons of inexpensive options out there.

I'm looking for one that's no more than $200 and can record high quality sound as well as decent video. My previous camera that I used got accidentally gathered and packed into a friends bag and such and taken across the continent at an inopportune time.

I can google and such but I'm taking it a step further and asking for personal experience.
