I am looking to incorporate fish into my diet as I am under the belief it is good for people who run and work out

Cheap, oily fish, like mackerel is good for you, full of good nutrients. For lots of protein, eat 'meatier' fish like Tuna and Swordfish.

I suggest,

Fish is never as good for you as, beans for example, or high nutrient high protein plant foods.

^Where do you find things like that? The closest I've seen are some expensive vegan "fish" fingers in the health food shop. (I say expensive, but I'm actually not sure how much normal fish fingers cost.)

Sorry to post off-topic. That picture looked tasty.

if you're gonna stop being a vegetarian why not introduce all meats into your diet?
fish is probably the tastiest kind, of course
but all animals are unique and delicious in their own special way
god im jonesing for some fried chicken right now

protein is good for you and one should only have a minimal yet significant amount of fat in one's diet. Studies say that protein suppresses appetite so you're less likely to over-eat.

You can be vegetarian/vegan and still do this by eating plant food sources that have protein, like tofu and beans.
If you only eat fish, that's good too in that fish is sometimes low fat yet have significant amount of protein. But so does poultry for that matter.

Something along the lines of Dr. Rosenpenis said; if you're including some meats for health reasons than you might as well eat both birds and fishes since both are lean meats with significant amount of protein (in other words, don't eat mammals! lol). However, you should be cautious about certain minerals in your fish (mercury or whatever) plus that some poultry is given unhealthy feed and/or weird chemicals/hormones.

Fake vegan fish meat sounds absolutely disgusting unless it's like vegan fried fish strips which would probs be awesome.

Obviously I think everyone should be a vegan, and if not a vegan to only eat animals of questionable sentience (mussels, oysters, etc) - but if you really believe your momentary pleasure is worth cruelty and that rotting flesh isn't disgusting - well - it is better to eat fish than other meats because other types of meat cause many different types of cancer (especially colon/rectal cancer but others as well), and they cause cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes, whereas fish just exposes you to mercury. Any meat though is full of cholesteral and bad for your health in comparison to a plant based diet.

TC are you one of those vegans that constantly whines at people at dinner if they get a hamburger?

Seriously TC, the man wants to know about fish. Stop bombarding him with your vegan propaganda.

Anyway, fish used to comprise a large portion of my diet when I lived up north. I think that salmon is probably my favorite. Cod is good too, especially batter-fried, and halibut is decent (although relatively flavor-less...that's what some people like about it, though).

Nicely said.

How are those fake fish things? I've never had real fish when I wasn't veggie, but I might try that fake stuff if I see it somewhere. Do they have any fake steak or anything? We need that lol. :)

vegetarian/vegan meat substitute can be awesome
seitan, soy meat, boca burgers

i dont know the first thing about nutrition, but veganism as a political thing is nothing more than lifestylism.

Don't be naive, as soon as its dead, it starts to rot and decay. :thumbup1:

Only some plants are sentient.

We've been here before.

Please, TC, I'd be eager to see the research that shows:

1. Eating meat (as opposed to eating plant based products) causes cancer.
2. Eating meat causes cardiovascular disease
3. Eating meat causes type II diabetes
4. Dietry cholesterol is bad for your health.

Also,

that realy wasnt my point
we were discussing decomposition of dead organisms
if you're eating a carrot or whatever, it's also rotting
sure, maybe less gross to you than rotting meat but basically the same process is it not?

Tilapia is good, OP. Eat a lot of Tilapia. It is very low in mercury and has a very mild flavor so you can season it.

Cook it in olive or vegtable oil or something and put spices on it. It will taste good.

Most (perhaps all tilapia on the commercial market?) is farmed. I never eat farmed fish.

I think that's because my parents are anti-farmed fish zealots.

Rotting meat is sentient.

Technically it isn't, though, cuz it's dead.

Because I've been totally serious here. There was already a thread on this that thoroughly demonstrated yet again why Destiny's Child incorrectly depends on meat.
