It's a reunion one month in the making between a woman and her beloved pet snake. Transit leaders in Boston say a 3-foot-long boa constrictor that slithered away from its owner on a subway car early last month was found this week in one of the cars.
A commuter spotted the reptile, named Penelope, and alerted a train attendant who caught it. The owner had apparently traveled around with Penelope around her neck and lost it between two stations.
"I'm so glad we found her, because it was becoming folklore that there was a snake on our trains," said Bill McClellan with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
"I think she's starting to get into her snake teenage years and getting a little bit more adventurous than she used to be," said the snake's owner, Melissa Moorhouse.
Moorhouse says she'll pay more attention the next time she takes the snake out in public.
