I am wondering what you guys think of this party. They seem alright, but I think they might focus too much attention on the industrial worker. The SLP seems to be a party forged for the steel worker, or coal miner, and excludes other workers.

I also searched the archives, and I'd like to address a post made by redstar on the topic of the SLP.

As I understand it, they are "strict parliamentarians"...the road to socialism is through a majority in the U.S. Congress. No talk of proletarian revolution is permitted.

After looking at the SLP homepage, they seem to be every bit as militant as they should be. The parlimentarianism comes into play after the revolution, with the "Socialist Industrial Unionism" policies of De Leon. This is how I read their material. They have an extensive library.

I'm not sure where I fall with these guys. I like alot of the literature on their site, dealing with the problems of Leninist states, but overall it seems like they may be out of touch with the times.

Unless they have changed in recent years (always a possibility), I understand them to adhere to a policy of running candidates in bourgeois elections "until" they win a majority in Congress.

In my view, that puts them firmly in the camp of classical social democracy.

As far as I know, they ceased to be a significant left group in the United States during World War II and have never recovered any influence of any kind.
