509 posts in the last one. That's nine over 500! I rarely get to close these on post 500 and sometimes I just forget to, like with the dog tribute going to 682 posts which, for those keeping score at home, is one hundred and eighty two over 500.

These threads are posted in at a staggeringly fast rate compared to the sticky threads in chit chat, as evinced by their nearly catching up to the Say What You Want Thread despite that thread's head start.

btw: the recipe is dumb simple because I'm poor.

It's two cups of shredded cheddar (the cheap kind that comes in packets at the grocery store

something like 32 fl. oz. of alfredo sauce (make your own I guess but I used the cheapest store-brand kind

and a pound of macaroni shells

melt that cheese (i just put it in a pot and watched it so it didn't burn)

mix it with the alfredo sauce

mix that all up with pasta

mac n cheese

Dont the SP run in elections or is that a dividing line with the ICC?

I have a weird feeling that they regard the SPGB as in the proletarian camp.

I respect Left-Communist views on Trade Unions and parlimentarianism but I think that Left-Coms though mostly right are too dogmatic on those issues.

Out of interest what do you think about the Internationalist Communist Group?

But come on....The PSL are maybe over the top on anti-Imperialism and they defend baltantly state-capitalist regimes like China as socialist. While the ICC are the other extreme.

To be fair hot banana sauce is something I have come across. I'm not sure if the combination of raw banana (sweet) and chili sauce is such a great idea thrown into a taco. I'd suggest lightly frying a not so sweet banana and then spicing it with chili sauce or a banana "ketchup", serving it yellow rice and perhaps guacamole in the taco.

What kind of banana?

What kind of chili sauce now we are discussing it.

Like I said, spicy banana dishes are not new to me- I have come across them before, and this is someone who could drink a shot of tabasco at the blink of an eye. The hotter and spicier the better for me... unfortunately Italy is not really a land of chili lovers and the Calabrian 'Nduja is quite mild in comparison to some of the dishes from the East or Latin America.

Well- yes and no.

Mozzarella is technically a formaggio fresco, but with the word formaggio- cheese- most people understand hard cheeses like parmesan and semi-hard cheeses like provolone (similar to cheddar) and wouldn't include mozzarella- they are all of course latticini.

Nevertheless, to many Italians the name "mozzarella cheese" seems strange.

Well, real mozzarella is made from buffalo milk, not cow milk as such. But it is a cheese I suppose, but in common usage here people take formaggio to mean the harder cheeses.

I have a lot of these problems with translation jobs at times- I hate translating food related stuff- it's a nightmare!

Krims- note it says "mozzarella style"--- ;)

In America they make the cheep stuff from some sort of vegtable oil. That's the kind of thing that you get on the Pizza Hut or Domino pizzas.

hatzel
6th February 2011, 12:55
...sounds good

Really they can't call that stuff mozzarella because they also can't call it cheese because it's not cheese according to the advertising standards people, who seem to have this strange idea that cheese has to be made of milk, rather than vegetable fat and soya protein and whatever else they make Cheezly (http://www.redwoodfoods.es/cheezly.php) out of :)

Research: water, non hydrogenated vegetable oil, tofu, soya protein, rice starch, thickeners: carrageenan, locust bean gum; salt, dried yeast, tricalcium phosphate, spirit vinegar, acidity regulator: trisodium citrate, raw cane sugar, flavouring, yeast extract

So it turns out that a scientific investigation into the health benefits of chocolate has found it to be healthier than fruit, with more cancer-fighting whoknowswhats and general good stuff in two squares of dark chocolate than in a glass of orange juice. You should do what I am doing right now: eat as much chocolate as I possibly can. It is estimated that by 2031 chocolate has become a rare luxury

By now, chocolate has become as rare and expensive as caviar, with even a single bar costing $10-15.

Drought, soil depletion and diminishing harvests in Africa – where two-thirds of the world's cocoa is produced – have led to soaring prices. Cocoa is also competing for agricultural space with other commodities like palm oil, which is increasingly in demand for biofuels.

Poor pay and working conditions have also been a factor. Many young farmers are now abandoning their lands and heading to the cities, in search of better and more highly-paid jobs.

Perhaps users on the forum who have a general understanding of history but are not wrapped up in it and lack having been exposed to such in a formal educational setting would like to know more about the wide range of topics. I find relevance in history as I'm dealing with current real world topics.

Yeah Kropotkin was great.

But one writer I loved just for his pure fire-and-brimstone was Sergei Nechayev

1. The revolutionary is a doomed man. He has no personal interests, no business affairs, no emotions, no attachments, no property, and no name. Everything in him is wholly absorbed in the single thought and the single passion for revolution.
2. The revolutionary knows that in the very depths of his being, not only in words but also in deeds, he has broken all the bonds which tie him to the social order and the civilized world with all its laws, moralities, and customs, and with all its generally accepted conventions. He is their implacable enemy, and if he continues to live with them it is only in order to destroy them more speedily.
3. The revolutionary despises all doctrines and refuses to accept the mundane sciences, leaving them for future generations. He knows only one science: the science of destruction. For this reason, but only for this reason, he will study mechanics, physics, chemistry, and perhaps medicine. But all day and all night he studies the vital science of human beings, their characteristics and circumstances, and all the phenomena of the present social order. The object is perpetually the same: the surest and quickest way of destroying the whole filthy order.
4. The revolutionary despises public opinion. He despises and hates the existing social morality in all its manifestations. For him, morality is everything which contributes to the triumph of the revolution. Immoral and criminal is everything that stands in its way.

You can't front on that. (http://www.marxists.org/subject/anarchism/nechayev/catechism.htm)

When the Revolution comes--I hope you do your fighting against the Borugeoisie in Europe. :D

Very impressive.

The fighting has gotta start way way way before any large revolution, the little revolutions are much more important.

But as an anarchist you gotta have a strong back to take the baton hits, and have a little range on your molotov cocktail.

Racquetball is more fun. It may be easier to become mediocre at racquetball than squash, but it is still a difficult sport to master. Squash is boring. Pelota looks pretty fun.

Yeah Kropotkin was great.

But one writer I loved just for his pure fire-and-brimstone was Sergei Nechayev

Kropotkin ended up supporting the allies in WWI :blushing: though.

However yeah Mutual Aid, The conquest of Bread and his book on the French Revolution (which apparently inspired Pol Pot :blushing:) are all utterly fab.

Bakunin and Nechayev however freak me out. I really believe that they were both psychopaths. I find reading them scarey.

Pol Pot probably could have read Romeo and Juliet and been "inspired" to do what he did, the dude was a loon.

I've decided that the flag of Mozambique is rather funny. Partly for the Kalashnikov, but mainly for the obvious overdose of symbols layered on top of each other. Just pick one, nobody needs four...

Well. She IS sweet and gentle. I don't know what muay thai is but, I do like Thai cooking. I don't know what Sailor Jerry's rum is--but it sounds like the hard liquor version of Steel Reserve and I don't have any tatoos :( but I could get one. I'm being stalked. For real, at least cyberlly (yeah whatever). This girl is sending me texts saying she misses me all the fucking time, spliced by dozens of pictues of her boobs. Now normally it wouldn't be an issue but I've never even met the broad! It's creeping me the fuck out I don't know what to do. I've told her to fuck off and no i don't want to meet (she got my number on facebook and has made that site unbearable as well) and well I'm thinking I'm just going to have to go kill her and bury her but for that Im going to have to wait fo the ground to thaw.

I love to post little tid bits from the Mises forums (it's my other big forum :D). Here's a gem from the supposed libertarian crowd in response to the 1973 coup in Chile;

Yes, the U.S. supported a brutal dictator, but if it did not, a communist would have been elected, and contrary to the naïve belief a future election would have removed him from power, there would not have been another election. The brutality under Pinochet pales with what would have happened under a communist. We did evil to prevent greater evil, but since the greater evil did not occur, people are ungrateful from what we saved them from.
