Begginers guide to socialist terms and theory.
Economic model of capitalism.
The capitalist economy is based on the exploitation of the majority, that is the working class (proletariat) by the few who make up the capitalist class (bourgeoisie).
This is how the worker is exploited.
The Capitalist, who owns the factory you work at, hires you to make wooden chairs and tables.
He pays you 8 dollars an hour, now say that it takes you 10 hours to create a table and four chairs.
You would make 80 dollars, this capitalist, then sells the product that you made with your labour as a commodity for which he recieves 300 dollars.
So the capitalist has made 300 dollars, minus materials and the wage he has paid you.
That capitalist has thus exploited you, used your man power to create a commodity for him, which he then sells, giving him surplus value.
Now this is not the only way the mases are exploited, for example, the landlord class use the very principle of capitalism to exploit us daily, the principle of private property.
Under capitalism, we are told we are free we can all own our own homes, much like we can apparently, choose where we work.
However the reality is, most people can not afford to buy a home, many are forced to rent, often from rich and greedy property holders who buy at low prices and renovate these properties, then rent or sell them, making vast sums of money.
Due to the reforms of the rulling class, workers in europe have won slight concessions, such as universal healthcare and welfare and benefit systems, however, in many other areas, even in first world countries, Workers are even exploited while sick, being forced to pay for insurrance and medical bills, or worse, struggle without healthcare, due to their wellbeing, not being prioratised over profit.
Economic model of socialism.
The economic model for socialism varies, depending on what socialism is being implemented.
Here are a few outlines:
Leninist socialism: Leninists want to see the implementation of planned economy which is ran through a central control, where the state plans and organises what each factory produces and is in charge of logistical and organising each sector of the workforce, rather than having free market enterprise, where the capitalists would run a factory and hire the workers, paying them a small percentage of the value they produce.
To ensure workers control, the Leninists seek to establish councils to democratically run the workplace, by and for the workers
Anarchist and councilist socialism: Anarchists and councilists wish to establish workers direct control over the means of production through councils, the same as leninists do, however, Anarchists and councilists are opposed are opposed to a state, and any centralism, and believe that the state should be abolished straight away, and the workers run and control the factories and produce and distribute everything independent of a state, with autonomous self governence.
Anarchists also seek to abolish currency straight away.
With the abolishment of capitalism and the ending of the "free markets" and private property, comes a new epoch, a time and place of red plenty, where each works according to his ability and recieves according to his needs.
Where racial, sexual and gender lines no longer act as antagonisms for the rulling class to erect to divide us, where education and healthcare are free for all, where opportunity to work and live, with dignity and respect are universal and the selfish drive for self interest capitalism produced has evapourated, and all that remains is the cooperative and humanistic striveings for the advancement and betterment of the Human race!
