A few days ago, an article about the solidarity actions in the US was posted on theblaze.com

the article was written by AP and was rather objective. But, looking at the photos i felt a bit of pride in seeing comrades in almost all of them.

Then, i looked at the responses. surprise surprise i see talk about the PSL and Answer and of course we were "linked" to geroge soros, van jones, and frances fox piven... but...

we got our own WHOLE article by theblaze.com about 2 days later. :D
Why Were U.S. Socialists Rallying in Support of Egypt This Weekend? (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/why-were-u-s-socialists-rallying-in-support-of-egypt-this-weekend/)

Why? because its a fuckin peoples movement!

Also, sorry for cheerleading(sometimes you cant help it, you know?).
I also noticed they failed to mention Socialistworker.org :(

Did you see what this one poster stated?

"Remember how the Bolchavicks came to power in Russia? They over threw a weak democratic gov’t. They infiltrated it much like Obama has done with his radicals. Obama is just waiting for an excuse and this happening in the US just might be it. Just watch to see if it expands and gets violent."

DO WHAT???? :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Do you know why the left always wins over the minds of America’s youth?
Because they control Hollywood.

Every night Glenn Beck goes on TV and preaches to the choir.
Maybe this is good …maybe he will lose his hat.

But if Glenn really wanted to chnage the hearts and minds of Americas lost youth.

He would go into the movie business.

Just make PRO AMERICAN MOVIES
and PRO FAITH MOVIES

good stories… Stories about the founders
hell the script is already written

He could change alot of minds and at the same time make himself a nice peice of change.

I knew that was actually young stalin playing borat

Congrats to PSL for being active and doing things.

I have worked with a PSL guy once on a worker-related issue.

It made me happy to see that their people get out and do things.

And the issue of NK or whatever, was totally irrelevant. We never discussed anything like that. We easily worked together on the issue at hand, which was fighting a really gross boss.

The day will come, when the social fights in the USA reach such a magnitude, that despite all the history of sectarianism, COINTELPRO etc. this type of common purpose will create enough cohesion, that we will all be able to come together in one big fight against the capitalist class.

Also, sorry for cheerleading(sometimes you cant help it, you know?).

Cheerleading is totally appropriate for solidarity actions:lol:. I think most of the entire radical left has been right on top of all this - the non-cheerleady part of this is that the state of the larger anti-war movement means that the presence of the broader left is weak. However, hopefully this continuing shake-up in Africa and into the middle east will help reinvigorate the anti-war movement in maybe a way that is more solidly anti-imperialist and anti-Islamophobic and internationalist.

I have to think that between the fact that "Money for Schools and Not for War" is no longer just a propagandistic slogan (but an actual reform that would resonate with much of the working-class in the face of cutbacks), the attacks on the pro-palistine flotilla, the reality of Obama's full-support of US imperialist interests, the Wiki-leaks revelations and so on, the increasingly bald-faced anti-Islam bigotry of the right, that anti-war sentiment must be peculating among more people than in the past few years. Locally (as in the US) I hope some of these historic world evens will provide an opening to rebuild some anti-war anti-imperialist actions is better than anytime since 2006.

thats actually the biggest reason i keep paying attention to it. its almost better than cracked.com.

every article has a comment that directly parrots beck.

i would almost make it a drinking game. a drink for every glenn beck quote/talking point. but, i dont want people to die.

people also ALL call George Soros "spooky doude" which is how beck introduced him.

it feels nice when they call our placards professionally done though :D

Oh, and about the Anti-war movement. were gearing up for the anniversary of the iraq war.

I listened to Beck yesterday claim that the millions and millions of people in the streets were merely being manipulated by, and I'm not making this up, "Islamic fundamentalists and Marxists". I did a big IRL facepalm. He also predicted an end-game situation involving a global Islamic caliphate taking over the Middle East and a large chunk of Europe (including the United Kingdom), with China and Russia dividing up the rest of the globe.

Rusty Shackleford

yeah, as if his show could get any crazier.

hes now making broad predictions that are basically a strategy gamer's mental masturbation.

hes going to be going over the topic of egypt for a week.

Most of the media has been freaking out about the spectre of "Islamic Fundamentalists" anyways, hence the large attention on the "Muslim Brotherhood" and nightmare scenarios of Egypt going the way of Iran.

Interpretations of the "Milestones" book (Osama praising this text also helps them immensely), despite the writer not being able to affect that kind of perspective in the old party. There's alsobits about 'leaked' memos US security dug up by some members of their organization bouncing around for a recreation of the caliphate and other things that fit nicely into the Global Islamist Conspiracy mindset they have going.

But hey, I guess the whole "Islamofascist-Communazi" Axis of Evil is nearly complete!

Surprisingly, Bill O'Reilley took him to task on his show for making stupid comments about Egypt. Beck did say one surprisingly interesting thing though, "These people don't hate Americans for their freedoms, they hate Americans because we take away their freedoms!"

IIRC when he was ranting about it in early 2010 he helped drive sales of The Coming Insurrection. He's done more to pitch it at this point.

That's one of the more realistic things he's said. A lot of leftists trip over themselves to ally with religious fundamentalists in this or that place in the name of "anti-imperialism." Gala dinners and all.

Though it's nothing new. How about the Maoists that fought alongside the mujahideen against the DRA in Afghanistan?

Rather than piggybacking on Becks hysterical sensationalism (with what is indeed a valid concern, though unrelated), it would be perhaps more productive to point out how in the instance that Beck is using to stir up a new red scare, the left is in fact not supporting the Muslim Brotherhood et al but rather supporting the uprising of the people against a US backed dictatorship.

Os Cangaceiros
4th February 2011, 19:08
Oh yeah, there's definitely leftists who become involved in "strategic alliances" with all kinds of so-called anti-imperialists, but I think what's most amusing is his attempts to prove that socialists in the United States somehow influenced what's happening in the Middle East/North Africa.

The history of the left seems to say otherwise. How many of them supported the mullahs in the Iranian Revolution, who then turned around and slaughtered militant workers and leftists themselves? How many leftists still support the Iranian regime?

Of course Beck is an arch reactionary who is tied in with the growth of a nascent national-syndicalist movement in the United States; but the answer to that is not to blindly praise all the organizations he criticizes in the name of "anti-fascism." That's no better than joining with the Islamists in the name of "anti-imperialism."

Especially when the left does things like allying with reactionary forces that will be the first to wipe out any sign of genuine revolutionary ferment. That has nothing to do with the struggle of the working class to liberate itself, and I won't keep quiet about it.

Sure. Lotsa leftists showed love to their anti-imperialist hero Ahmadinejad at a dinner held a few months ago in NYC.

"New York, NY - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met here, September 21, with 100 leaders and representatives of anti-war, labor, alternative media and Iranian and Palestinian solidarity organizations. Among the participants were Sarah Martin, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Margaret Sarfehjooy, board member of the Minneapolis-based Women Against Military Madness, former attorney general Ramsey Clark, former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, Sara Flounders from the International Action Center, Brian Becker of the ANSWER coalition, Ramona Africa of the Free Mumia Coalition and Amiri Baraka, poet and activist.

"....After listening intently to the statements of 22 of the participants, President Ahmadinejad said, 'We have a treasure chest full of views. I agree with everything you have said and therefore you have spoken from my heart also....'"
