I don't understand how books that are literally taking no paper to make, that you download onto a E-book, can cost $160.00... These are randomly picked books I just chose to show, but really wtf. Is this a way to keep masses from obtaining information without really taking it away? I was considering buying an e-book for school since there are a considerable 40% off textbooks, but whats the deal? You should really only be paying for bandwidth and maybe the publisher's fees.

The production process is the same as with physical books. The costs associated are largely the same also.

But doesn't cost go down if there is really only one product being produced, which is 1 virtual copy that is then copied to, lets say, 100,000 people. It just seems like another profit making machine.

I wouldn't know. But another factor is that publishers are still trying to figure out a proper pricing model for ebooks. They seem to want to treat it as an actual book...but in a digital format.

Ahh yeah that makes a bit of sense. I just wish knowledge was just public domain and you didn't have to pay hundreds of dollars for what is put out there to be read by everyone:crying:
