Trotskyism is distrust of the leaders of Bolshevism, an attempt to discredit, to defame them. I do not know of a single trend in the Party that could compare with Trotskyism in the matter of discrediting the leaders of Leninism or the central institutions of the Party. -- J.V. Stalin
All I can say, Joe, is that you're damn lucky I wasn't around then.
I'd have shown you a whole new meaning of "distrust".

I read this a while back. While I do admire Stalin allot and see him as evil I don’t know if this speech is to be believed. I have no idea if Trotsky created legends about the revolution but Trotsky played a bigger and a much more important role than Stalin did. Even Stalin admits that Trotsky played an important role. I wonder with Stalinists say about this admission, as they love to diminish Trotsky’s role in general.

I admire Trotsky's role in the military revolution meaning the civil war, imperialist invasion etc. But Stalin was in exile when the revolution began, so that is why he was less involved. He did most certainly play a great role in the revolution and defense.
You can read Trot yourself on his anti-Leninism. Read "On Our Political Tasks". He attacks Lenin throughout. Suddenly, after 15-20 years as an opponent of Lenin...he suddenly joins the revolution. Opportunist~!

Maybe he was. Maybe he was waiting for Lenin to die. But why wouldn’t he take the position as General Secretary under Lenin when he had the chance?

Forget Trotskyism and Stalinism.
They are HISTORY.
We are in the 21st century, we have to look to the future and forget stupid differences.

Why forget? Very bad thing to do.

Part of Marxism is learning from past mistakes. Guarding against opportunism, revisionism, and the rest are the essential points to defending a revolution against the emergence of the bourgeois in the party.

You're right, elijahcraig....
And I'd say that Leninism is a past mistake.
