As an open minded person who really appreciates Marx's works and wishes it could work, I'm afraid to day the guy narrating this has some great points.

Anyone care to refute him?

it is typical (let alone childish) of right-wingers to blame any fault of the market whatsoever on state regulation. The argument that 'regulation creates market failure, hence socialism is refuted' is pathetic, for even if 'horribly anti-capitalist' regulation was the source of recession in these cases, it is not the regulation of the market that we leftists call for, but the destruction of the market. The infantile fallacy of the 'Free' Marketers is that capitalism requires regulation, and capitalists want regulation. If a free market were ever to actually exist it would be met with horrific consequences.
If you're someone that wishes Marxism could 'work' don't be swayed by this idiocy (which is only a critique of a critique anyway).

fair enough, thanks for the response; I shall do a bit more reading and educate myself better on the topic-
just as whenever I try to debate someone on capitalism I seem to get directed back to this video.

In case anyone else is interested, I found this video defending Harvey:

Although I was looking for something potentially more indepth than the video, I see I may not get it as you guys have pointed out there is much substance in what 'howtheworldworks' is saying.

Thanks anyhow.

If you're ever having trouble debating a capitalist just ask for help on Revleft, I don't want to be egotistic or biased but just about all capitalist arguments (against Marxism) are strawmen at best, it seems Marxism is something that can't be understood if you approach it with a predetermined negative attitude, that being said i doubt there are many right wingers that have bothered to read Marx in the first place.

Thanks for the welcoming message, I appreciate it.
I shall ask around when i'm having trouble debating, although I don't think the Revleft members will appreciate a million new threads but i'm guessing the search button may assist me.

Feel free to ask as much as you want, that's what the learning section is for.

IN this video -
Income per Capita INCLUDES the income of capitalists. Bill Gates alone skews that figure a whole bunch.

Harvey's makes his point by using wages, which is a measurement of the (lack of) wealth of greater society.

This idiot is pointing out that statistics that include the income of capitalists have increased, whereas the statistics that don't include the income of capitalists have remained stagnant. He is inadvertently backing up Harvey's argument...
