I want to purchase a prepaid card without it having any connection to me. Is there a way to legally obtain one in the US without an ID?

What do you mean by prepaid card? Like a gift-card, but one that can be used for any store. I believe that American Express has this option and it can be used for many locations. Look for a universal gift card. But if you want something like a debit card, I would assume you would need to have a connection to it.

I believe stores like Walgreens have prepaid Visa cards that act like a "universal gift card" of sorts. Pay in cash and you shouldn't have any connection to the card.

Thanks, I will look into it. And yes, I was referring to prepaid debit/credit cards.

Yah one is called Green Dot, that is a refillable prepaid debit card.

I hope i'm not too late, but don't get the Walmart card. The service is shitty, and your going to need a receipt for everytime you activate it, which is a huge hassle because you have to voice it over the phone, or use their online service which was hella confusing.

I use greendot, and the only thing about it is you will have to give them your social if I remember correctly, but I have super bad credit and I'm still able to use it. It even has a routing number and account attached to it if you need to pay any monthly bills. I recommend that one :)

Green Dot would be good, but I don't want the card tied to me in any way.
