If thats your real name you should remove it, its vary bad practice to use your real name anywhere on the internet especially here.

Hello Ludwig, I skimmed through your link and it seems like an interesting autobiographical work.
As you know, having searched this forum out, we are a collection of anarchists/socialists/communists, etc. While we appreciate your attempts at communicating your thoughts and life experiences, since you seem to be anti-communist (or at least anti-Stalinist, please clarify where you fall politically) you will most likely be restricted to the "opposing ideologies" section. There you can still post and interact with members who choose to talk there, but you will not be allowed to take part in the normal boards on this forum (this is a forum for revolutionary leftists to discuss revolutionary leftism, if we opened up the general boards to everyone it would boil down to right wingers constantly slugging it out with the left wingers, like every other political discussion board on the internet).
Don't be discouraged if this does happen, though, I'll be interested to see what you have to say in the future.
Also, to the people who pointed out that he should not use his name, I dare say a nuclear scientist with two books out regarding his experiences in the USSR probably has his name on a list somewhere anyway.

i haven't read his book but stalinism really has nothing to do with communism anyway and just because they are watching you doesn't mean you should help them.

Very welcome ^^
I am afraid that this thread soon will turn into a flame-war.
As for your book, which I have read, I am in agreement about the complete anti-humanism of the system envisioned by Stalin. Socialism should not be about the state owning all the resources, but about the people owning and controlling all the resources, together.

I would say that I am a socialist. But this term is ambiguous. I am certainly for social justice but I am against proletarian dictatorship. I prefer not to be restricted because I want to be able to comment on what people think.

You are right; anyone going to Wikipedia, or Google, or Academia, will find a lot of information about me.

Rather than blasting the guy for being a 'former communist' why not hear him out and let him explain his reasons for labelling himself as such?
Just sayin'.

I never blasted anyone, in fact I was trying to gently tell him that he may be restricted. I thought I was heading off a more vicious onslaught to be honest. This isn't typically the most understanding of sites when you call yourself a "former" communist.

I think we have a different concept of "proletarian dictatorship". In the Marxist sense, this simply means that the working class holds power. It is commonly understood to be a temporary period of the proletariat seizing power, smashing the old bourgeois institutions and expropriating antagonist classes.
Some argue that you can characterize our current society as a "bourgeois dictatorship".
Anyway, welcome to the forum. I look forward to your posts.

Mr. Kowalski, what do you think of Prof. Grover Furr? You're a Professor Emeritus at Montclair State University, and Furr is another professor there. I remembered your name because of a short article by Furr in 2008 criticizing your view of Stalin.
