oral argument was heard today in the US supreme court regarding the above-captioned case.

the opinion below (sorry, post count is too low to hyperlink, apparently: opinion is US third circuit, docket No. 08-4024), which held that corporations have "personal privacy" sufficient to defeat a mandatory FOIA request connected to information compiled for law enforcement when such information could reasonably be interpreted as an invasion of personal privacy, which appears to be a concern related to the fourth amendment of the US constitution.

the opinion below does not cite citizens united v. FEC, which overruled several decades' worth of statutes in holding that corporate campaign contributions may not be limited because of the corporations' first amendment rights--but the trend toward increasing constitutional rights for immortal capital is plain.

i'm curious what the conservative bench will do with this case--it likes capital, but not privacy rights, generally.

any thoughts on this development?
