From the WSWS (http://wsws.org/articles/2011/jan2011/npat-j18.shtml):

Events in Tunisia—where mass workers protests against unemployment and dictatorship forced President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali from office on January 14—have exposed the class character of the pseudo-left groups like France’s New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA). They are complicit in efforts by the Western imperialist governments to isolate and suppress working class struggle in Tunisia.

Can some French comrades give their opinion?

Socialist Party (PS) leader Martine Aubry cynically called on the French foreign ministry—one of the most stalwart supporters of Ben Ali’s regime—to “engage itself unambiguously in favor of democracy in Tunisia.”

I really am not too familiar with either the NPA or the WSWS (in fact I'm quite new to leftist politics). Could you explain a bit?

Well, a closer reading of the article says enough. It's just full of wild guesses and extrapolations based on decontextualised quotes, in a connecting-the-dots fashion. The argument here is basically:

1) The NPA says that the Tunisian trade unionists can change things for the better.
2) That trade union leadership supported the previous president.
3) Therefore, the NPA are agents of capital.

And:

1) The left parties of France demand that their governments cease their support of Ben-Ali.
2) France is an imperialist country.
3) Therefore, the left parties of France are imperialist agents.

The WSWS basically do this with every comment on unions, other groups, etc. Quality journalism, folks.

It's also pretty funny how this author seems to think that naming the uprising "intifada" has some sort of deep and sinister meaning, related to Palestine. "Intifada" is simply an Arabic word that means "shaking off" and can be translated to "uprising".

To add on this, as has been pointed out in a gazillion threads here already, the WSWS is run by a CEO of press company that runs for profit. The social base of its anti-union politics are obvious.
