I was never a TV comedy series guy, but i watched Black Books and i loved it, then i watched Spaced and i melted out of sexual viewing pleasure..

Any more british comedies series to suggest?I "bought the DVDs" of IT Crowd, watched first 2-3 episodes, but it seems lame.Like, too american :crying:.

Movies also acceptable, but down the priority list.
I've watched the Python stuff, and Simon Pegg's movies.

"Peep show" is probably the best we've produced in a long time. Also "Ideal" is really good it's about a weed dealer in Manchester and all the weird and annoying people that turn up at the flat to score weed from him.

+1 on Peep Show. I'd also recommend Look Around You (not a sitcom but hilarious), Garth Marenghi's Dark Place (also, not a sitcom but a great show), Nathan Barley and pretty much anything by Chris Morris.

Also, Black Books is a good sitcom, you'll probably dig it if you liked Spaced.

Can't recommend Peep Show highly enough; one of the few things I can watch again and again and again...

Heh... watch Citizen Smith.

From Wiki:

"Citizen Smith starred Robert Lindsay (http://www.revleft.com/wiki/Robert_Lindsay_(actor)) as "Wolfie" Smith, a young Communist (http://www.revleft.com/wiki/Communist) "urban guerrilla" living in Tooting (http://www.revleft.com/wiki/Tooting), South London (http://www.revleft.com/wiki/London), who is attempting to emulate his hero Che Guevara (http://www.revleft.com/wiki/Che_Guevara). Wolfie is the self-proclaimed leader of the revolutionary Tooting Popular Front (merely a small bunch of his friends), the goals of which are "Power to the People" and "Freedom for Tooting". In reality, he is an unemployed dreamer and petty criminal whose plans fall through because of laziness and disorganisation."

It's all on youtube:

Also; The Young Ones, The Mighty Boosh, Mongrels, Still Game (that's Scottish and you might not get all the jokes), Limmy Show and........ er, something else will come to me.

The Mighty Boosh was great, and so was Garth Merenghi's Darkplace (for all of the 6 episodes that it ran- it was one of those things that was too good to last).

I also like watching reruns of "Are You Being Served?"

A great sketch show, featuring Simon Pegg, amongst others, was Big Train:

Yes, it has reached heights of excellence.

Only to be expected from the writer of Father Ted.

Oh yeah, Red Dwarf hasn't been mentioned yet either. That was another good series that slowly got kinda shit. So watch the first four series or so. They tried to make an American version of it which was notoriously bad. They only got so far as a pilot episode and if you watch the original British one then you should watch the American pilot. It's about a guy (Lister) who's onboard a mining ship I think in space, then he gets sent to a stasis chamber for punishment. When he's in there, an accident happens that kills the whole crew and he wakes up 3 million years later (and I think 3 million light years away) from Earth. The computer, Holly, recreates his former cabin mate in the form of a hologram (Rimmer) and then they come across a humanoid creature called Cat which is the descendent of Lister's own cat. Then they come across an android called Kryton. It's about Lister trying to get back to Earth and coming across unusual spacey stuff like aliens and the Despair Squid, going back and forward in time and what not. It's a good laugh for most of it.

Ha, I may as well just keep tying, I have nothing else to do:

Lister is a smelly bum with no aspirations who's forever infatuated with a female member of the crew (who's long dead).

Rimmer is an anally retentive petty officer type and the both hate each other. He was only brought back because the computer thought with him being so annoying, it would keep Lister sane.

Holly is a computer with an IQ of 5 million but he's been floating around for so long that he's slowly gone mental and quite stupid.

The Cat is a vain, lazy and stupid guy who likes sleeping a lot, eating fish and wears lots of fancy clothes.

And Kryton is the kinda smart one but is still prone to make stupid mistakes. He can't be rude to anyone or call them bad names and he has to do whatever the crew mates say.

Anyway, watch it. Ha.

Oh, and it appears to be all on youtube as well:

I just thought of another one The league of Gentlemen.

But I've changed my mind about the best comedy of recent years Ideal is definitely the best, especially if you like drugs.

While that's a good film (kinda), I think you'd have to watch Bottom first to get to know Eddie and Richie. And maybe Fawlty Towers.

Peep Show is brilliant. The Office (UK version) was a work of comic genuis.

Also, the new made-for-Youtube Alan Partridge stuff isn't bad either:
