Seriously people- is anybody up for doing some solidarity actions in their area? Next 20-25 days will be really really crucial, any pressure people can put on Bulgarian authorities would be good, demoms and pikcets outisde embassies the best.

I read that the guy who was killed had influential parents so I think that Jock has little hope of freedom, anyway I support him.

Also this is a chance for people on the forum to help fellow anti-fascist and do something besides writing hundreds of posts here and there.

Based on what I read, I have the feeling he will spend lots of years in jail.

I never heard of bulgarian embassies near my location but he will send e-mails to bulgaria and that.

He will certainly spend lots of time in jail if people do nothing.
Where are you from Triple A? There might be an embassy you dont know about :)

In the place I live there is a bulgarian embassy but I found out it is not that important, tough.

I am not that idealistic, and I doubt that some protests of foreign people will change the bulgarian system.

Well, we are not trying to change Bulgarian system, we are trying to influence particular decision and internation protests already brought lots of heat on them, se we need to keep the pressure. We will definitely change anything if people will have such an attitude as "there is nothing that can be done". Come on, organising protest there is not a big deal, gather some friends and do it.
Any protests outisde bulgarian embassy HAS to be reported by them to central authorities.

well, i am trying not to hold my breath either, however on his last appeal 3 judges were discussin for about an hour whether to acquit him on the spot- that means that there is actually some hope.

last news from internet message:

Hi there everybody .

Jock had his final defence plea in his appeal on 19th of January. It means that theoretically within 30 days he should receive his verdict- Bulgarian system however is not know for its efficiency so it might take more time than that. In the meantime we definitely need last push for him!
Comrades in Moscow already organised another picket outside Bulgarian embassy and we know there is something going to take place in Holland in few days. If you have a Bulgarian Embassy or consulate in your area why not to pay them a visit with few friends and a abnner or at least go there and offcially deliver a letter of support? (it has to be noted by embassy stuff and sent to Ministry of Foreign Affairs so it carries more weight that you might think). If not that send few emails to bulgarian authorities, reminding them that Jock is not forgotten and we are watching them.
There is very handy form for sending messages to one of the bulgarian ministires here : http://www.mfa.bg/en/contact/

Free Jock website finally seems to be moving, with large update of different articles about him: www.freejock.com

Our solidarity, against there repression!

This tuesday the Anarcho-Syndicalistische Bond (ASB) in coorperation with the local AFA group organised a picketline in support of Jock Palfreeman. At 12.30 we gathered at the Bulgarian ambassy in The Hague. Leaflets we're handed out to people passing by, solidarity chants could be heard and a banner was unrolled. Free Jock!

A tragic story!

A local antifa branch did an info evening about his story. There was an opportunity to send postcards to him. Other antifa/left groups should organise similar events. It's a great way to show international solidarity and connect our local antifa work with the broader movement!
This counts for other struggles as well of course!

within next few months he will have the last appeal.. this is the long shot but we really need to mobilise in the meantime, do lots of actions outside embassies etc. We have to do something for fucks sake!!!

I know I know, I saw it on indy. Great that people are doing this! Problem is The Hague is way expensive to travel to. I've got nearly no income, so yeah. All the embassies are over there, so the only meaningful thing we can do is info evening and writing postcards, which we did recently.

Anarchist Skinhead
22nd February 2011, 13:30
organise action in internet cafe writing dozens of letters to embassies, ministries etc then :)

Omi
22nd February 2011, 14:16
I don't think writing letters to state institutions is going to help. In my area the antifa movement is dominated by anarchists and other anti-authoritarians. It's much more productive to have solidarity fundraising partys/info evening/events to raise money for local antifa/abc groups that do legal support for these sort of prisoners, because they are the ones really making a difference. The state will not grant these prisoners freedom just because we write them letters and emails.

Anarchist Skinhead
22nd February 2011, 16:03
no, but it will not hurt to do it as well, takes fuck all effort and all combined together- who knows? Demos outside embassies are the best.. but letter writing is a lazy option, bit of a long shot but if many of them come, they start noticing there is a problem if its combined with other actions. Info evenings only make sense if some concrete solidarity come out of them- its not much help for jock that people feel sympathy, he needs active solidarity now.

Sad news.
I am a realistic guy and the only way to get him free is a jailbreak.

Well as I mentioned, most info evening here end in large groups of people writing letters to Jock himself for support and solidarity. This aspect is very important: it has been confirmed by activists time and time again that active solidarity outside of prison and contact with people continuing the struggle on the outside that have shown they have not forgotten you is essential.

Triple A- how about you organise demo outside Bulgarian embassy instead ?

Every actions is good Omi- I didn't mean to play down that kind of solidarity, its obviously really important, but contact with people outside falls more within category of @[email protected] rather than solidarity and he needs both.

I'd love to organise one but I do not know any other antifas or anarchists so I cant organise demos.

I know some ppl that have (A) necklaces and that but I doubt they would fight fascism in an active way.

It was like in October or something, I didn't organize it but our local antifa group did it. But it's quite common that there are prisoner-support evenings in local info-shops/leftist community centres. At least in my area. I don't know exactly what you are asking though? Info about the info event or something?
