Hello and thank you for providing such a wonderful forum for like minded people.

I am an American national from the Columbus, Ohio area living in Israel/Palestine along the old 1967 borders. Quite literally, half of my apartment is in Israel and half of my apartment is in Palestine. For tax purposes I'll probably move in case a Palestinian government comes to power because God knows I don't make enough money to pay two countries :p

I work as a freelance photographer/journalist here to support what I do since my parents in the states are still paying for me to go to college. I also work in a falafel restaurant to supplement my income and to feed me. :p

In terms of politics I identify with Libertarian Socialism and Syndicalism more than anything else. I see the inherent flaws in government but I also recognize it as the only viable option we have at the moment. I'm also a member of the IWW.

In terms of the Palestinian/Israeli debate I have to say that I support both states in their right to exist with Jerusalem as their capitals. I see the only way for peace between these two peoples is mutual cooperation in a socialist framework, lacking the Nationalistic/Religious fervor that both sides are currently characterized by.

I'm also a lover of languages, having spent time studying Hebrew, Arabic, French, Russian, and Spanish.

I'm also a vegetarian who won't get all up in your face about it.

Thanks again,
FW

are you involved with AATW or keeping your nose clean as long as your studying?Eh, I've already run into some here who seem to think that any support of Israel makes you a Fascist. My opinions reflect that of Noam Chomsky, where the only thing that will bring peace is an emphasis on socialism and a lack of nationalism and religion in government and society.

I'm triple majoring in photography, journalism, and social justice. The experience has been good and I've had some good opportunities to get to know the common citizens of both peoples.

I've been keeping my nose clean as you put it. I've been to a few of their meetings but I don't want to do anything that will get me kicked out. I'm having too much fun I suppose.

They are doing an event here in SF tomorrow night. I didn't realize they were a widely known organization.

@ psycho

what made you assume he was a zionist??? Possibly because I'm fine with Israel existing in the pre-1967 borders with West Jerusalem as its capital.

There are some people who think that Israel should probably just cease to exist altogether and that the Jews should just go back to Europe and the US.

Eh, I'd rather stop talking about it as the topic is too contentious.

why is it too contentious.?
i noticed you never said you werent a zionist.People's emotions tend to get the better of them in this subject, and rightfully so. I'd rather not create a huge argument or get anyone upset.

I'm not a Zionist in the conventional sense. I support a two-state solution alongside traditional Labor Zionism, which emphasized building working class ties with the local people rather than completely usurping them.

Zionists just want to sweep all of Israel's wrongdoings under the rug under the idea that everyone else is an anti-Semite and that Palestinians are the cause of 90% of Israel's problems. Obviously I don't subscribe to that school of thought.
