This may seem like a silly question, but iv been looking around for answers and havent really found one. In these times we have many luxury goods , things that most people own, like xbox , playstation , nice cars , computers , even toys or other recreational items.

What would happen to these items in a time of socialism or communism. I mean, I personally have no issue with these things, would they still be created for "use" and given to everyone? I doubt Ferrari could make enough for every who wants one, or would specialized items like this just cease to exist?

Hopefully you understand my question, I was hesitant to ask but was really curious.

Thank you.

There's nothing wrong with luxuries. Increased leisure time is one of the main goals of communism. Communism seeks to eliminate the problem of overproduction and runs on "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.

Also, do not hesitate to ask questions. Learning is never stupid.

I'm no expert, but these things aren't that hard to make, right?
I mean, an assembly line spits them out,and no rare / valuable first materials are required.so why do you call them 'luxury goods' ?

Now if you said a diamond-covered hand-built jet fighter, yes.

Well, they arn't necessities of life, so thats how I was categorizing them.

I was putting under consideration this would be on a world scale, so I thought making 8 billion xboxs would use a lot of resources..

If necessity doesn't call for 8 million XBOX 360s, then why make 8 million XBOX 360s?

I see your point, I was just thinking that most people today and probably in the future would like electronic entertainment. So a large amount of the populous would like one.

I guess my main concern is that these things would cease to be , because they seem unimportant ,but in my view are very important, as they contribute a lot to our culture.
