Is democracy for the few by micheal parenti a good read? Also will it most likely be available at the local library or bookstore?

It seems like an excellent read. I'm not sure about your local library or bookstore. I've never seen anything by Parenti on sale in a bookstore before. I would honestly check for a used copy online that isn't too outdated but the latest editions are ridiculously priced and you can probably find the same content for a lot cheaper.

The reason Democracy for the Few is so expensive in its latest edition is that it's used as a textbook and priced accordingly. Earlier editions are much cheaper.

Yeah it's like in its 8th or 9th edition. It's a very good and wise book. A lot of bad news therein though.
Another excellent one I like is Blackshirts and Reds.
