Comrades, I have been reading das kapital for 6 months and i just finished the first volume? How long did it take those of you who have finished , to get through all volumes?

Yes, six months is average. Of course, it's necessary to read all three volumes otherwise you get a skewed version of Marx's explanation of how capitalism functions.

Finally got the fucking book.....it was too hard to read on the computer. It's almost been a month and i'll certainly be done with chapter 3 by the end of it, i started it yesterday, and i don't see why everyone says it's the hardest chapter.

Like Lenin says if you haven't read Hegel's Logic then you have no idea what Chapter 1 is about.

I've only read volume 1. To just read the words? It took me about a week. I totally glossed over everything in it and didn't retain any of it. I just wanted to finish it, not actually thinking about what I was reading. I wanted to be done with it and move on to another book. Even though I read it, I have no idea what it really talked about. I just remember lots of coats... I will re-read it someday and actually try to understand it. Then maybe I will read Volumes 2 and 3...

about 18 months it began to get very painful after a while, but the sense of achievement afterwards was pretty cool.

i started 14 years ago, still havent finished much after the first or so chapter... i think i will save it for retirement...
