School Of Americas (SOA)
The school was first opened in Panama but was later disbanded because of the Panama Canal treaty. On January 17, 2004 it was re-opened in Fort Bennings, Georgia, this time it opened as “Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation.” The same school with a different name.
Funded by the CIA and US tax payers, the School of Americas was created to maintain dictatorship in Latin America. Over 60,000 Latin Americans and over 100,000 of others from 23 different countries have been trained in counter insurgency techniques, sniper training, command, physiological warfare, military intelligence, interrogation tactics, politics, economics, assassination, political upheaval, and modern weaponry training. They target educators, union organizers, religious workers, student leaders, and others who work for the rights of the poor. Hired by wealthy landowners, graduates use their tactics to stop the formation of democracy and to stop revolution from forming in Latin America.
Many end up trafficking drugs for the CIA or for major drug lords in, but others end up being brutal dictators. One example would be Hugo Benzer from Bolivia. When the Bolivian government sold the public water system to a private corporation the prizes for water skyrocketed. Most people couldn’t afford to buy water anymore. A good number of them took to the streets. Benzer sent the military to attack the mass. The attempt to disband the protest failed, and the people continued for three more days. On the fourth days Benzer sent the military out again, this time with real bullets and brutal beatings. Eight were killed and over 100 injured.
Roberto Viola, from Argentina was convicted of murder, kidnapping, and torture during the “dirty wars *.”
Vlademirio Montesinos of Peru, Fujimori’s advisor. Lead the “La Cantuna** ” murders and runs the death squad that is part of the National Intelligence Service.
Frank Romaní from Haiti and his men broke into a church during mass and killed 12 people and wounded at least 77. They then doused the church in gasoline and burned it down. He justified his actions as “legitimate”

**When the students of “La Cantuna” university wrote an article that insulted the regime on Fujimori’s behalf, Vladimir Montesinos ordered an attack on nine students and one teacher. The nine students and the teacher where kidnapped and beaten all the way to an interrogations base, there they were beaten some more until an officer kicked out Montesimos for using his base without his permission. The officer was later killed in a mysteries “terrorist attack.” The bodies of the students and teacher were found years later, burned, chopped to pieces, and buried.
