The Communist Workers Party played a role in this, according to As'ad Abukhalil. As an anti-imperialist Arab, I'm excited as hell. This may very well spread.

"Tunisian Communist Workers Party

I got word that the spokesperson of the Tunisian Communist Workers Party has been released. The party has been quite active in the movement for democracy.

He has fled the country but the military is moving in to prop up the regime. They're going to try and now strike back against the mood on the streets. France has defintely been involved in the actions of the government before to respond to the unrest and they're still doing it now. The US as well.

I believe the spokesperson for the Tunisian Workers' Communist Party was arrested today though some sources say he has been released.

At any rate the people need to keep moving, the state is trying to re-assert itself after jettisoning Ben Ali.
