Mao Zedong is my favorite Communist writer. His most famous book is "Quotations of the Chairman Mao Zedong/Tse Tung" (One of the best pieces of philosophical Marxist-Leninist writings ever in my opinion) and "Guerrilla Warfare" by him. Maoism is usually related to Guerrilla liberation groups (Such as the ones in Puerto Rico, the Shining Path, Black Panthers, et al)
Here are some writings on the ideals of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism http://www.rwor.org/mlm-e.htm
There's also the MIM (Maoist international Movement), but I heard from someone that their site was being monitered, so I won't give you a link just in case.

For about the past year i have been studying him, and i highly suggest:
Mao: A life by Philip Short
Its a good book, it explains alot and the guy went to many different sources(even Mao's childhood friends) to help us get a better picture of him.
Another good book to read is:
The private life of Chairman Mao
That one is written by his doctor, who totally hates Mao and everything Mao does the Doctor puts a negatitive spin on it. Most communists hate it and the book is banned in China, but if you ignore the doctors comments and simply read the coverstaions he had with Mao, you can get alot better understanding of Mao's thinking.
And finally if you'd like to read his writtings, i believe this site has the largest collection
http://www.maoism.org/msw/mao_sw.htm
I personally like to read books as opposed to online material, but i must warn you, Mao books are usually very expensive. From my experince.
But those 3 sources should be enough, I admire his life..for his struggles and his success...but his writtings is equally important to understand how he adapted communism to china.
(also, on a side note, his writtings was usually directed towards peaseats, so its very easy to read his work. He often speaks in simple words, but has really complex idea's.)
I hope it helped, if you have any questions feel free to message me, and if you find any other good sources, please share them with us.
Take care

I would definately suggest reading 'Quotations from the Chairman Mao Zedong' first. It is quote after quote of revolutionary wisdom.
Also, if you come to understand Marxism-Leninism well I would suggest 'On Khrushchev's Phoney Communism'.

Yes, also you can find 'Quotations from the Chairman...' here:
http://www.marxists.org.uk/reference/archi...e/mao/index.htm (http://www.marxists.org.uk/reference/archive/mao/index.htm)
The Red Book is not particularly long and very easy to understand. In the PRC, under Mao, every single person in China was given a copy. It was mean to be a simple reference for being a communist. Today it could still function as so.
