I've often helped out comrades with computer problems, mainly small software or OS based problems, but would like have a decent resource to consult on solving hardware problems.

Upgrading and Repairing Laptops by Scott Mueller is anticipated as one of the best, given the success of his previous books on Upgrading and Repairing PCs, and his book on Building your own PC.

Anyone have any laptop-specific repair ebooks lying around? I don't feel like paying almost as much as a refurbished laptop costs for such a book.

The problem with notebooks is that they're all proprietary and have different internal layouts. This site has disassembly instructions for hundreds of models, with photographs:

Thanks Comrade, that should come in handy. I know that Mueller's previous books have been over 1,500 pages long because of all the proprietary hardware.

In a truly free Socialist Republic all laptops will be the same. :)
