I dont rate Maoism-Third Worldism at all but this is an interesting interview some of them have carried out with Steve Struggle who has spent his life fighting for the Black/New Afrikan Soviet Republic.

Didn't black panthers adhere to "black nationalism"?Which is reactionary.
Like extremist feminism.

No they were revolutionary Communists who fought for the national liberation of the Black/New Afrikan nation trapped inside U.S. borders.

The problem was that they were under so much pressure from the beginning and never got the chance to properly develop. Plus some of them were more "nationalist" than Communist while others were straight forward Marxist-Leninists...What makes them of real interest is that they applied Mao's Mass Line in a "first world" urban context. Im not sure that I agree entirely with what he says but the interview is of interest as a historical document.

The Black Panthers, dispite their black nationalist line (which I disagree with), was one of the most influencial and productive groups in the lefts history.

What they did in community organizing, community protection and community self help was and is amazing and an inspiration.

And they could'nt be stopped, they were getting so popular the US had to resort to assasination and black ops. America would be a different country had they not been destroyed violently.

To get a overviewing picture i recommend the movie "Panther". Its not 100% historicly corect but good enough.

the movie panther did NOT appeal to me - kind of portrayed the panthers as a kind of gang which they were not and had all the politics removed - just my opinion here

Both by their enemies and would be supporters their nationalist side is stressed and the fact that they were a Communist Party ignored at the moment in the USA (or so Ive heard from others and seen myself). Also of interest is that the other pro-Mao Communist Party to apply the Mass line effectively in the west (Proletarian Left in France) was also brutally repressed.

The *NEW* Black Panther Party adheres to black nationalism/separatism and are quite reactionary. Nothing like the Original Black Panthers
