I'm looking to read some historical biographies on Trotsky, Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro and Mao Zedong.
I've read Mao: The unknown story but that was totally biased and I'm looking for biographies as unbiased as i can find.
Does anyone know any good biographies on the people I listed? I'm thinking of buying Deutschers three volume biography on Trotsky but I've heard that is very biased.
Thanks!

Any biography you're likely to read will be an interpretation of the facts. Deutcher's biography of Trotsky is still probably the best one available of several. For supplementary information try Volgokonov's Trotsky: The Eternal Revolutionary (he references Soviet material not available to Deutcher.)

It should go without saying that all histories and biographies should be read critically and that the facts should be sifted from the interpretations.
