Hey all,

It's been awhile since I've been on RevLeft much but if I recall correctly everyone in Chit Chat has medical degrees.

I went to the emergency room tonight with pain in my left leg and was informed that I most probably have a relatively rare muscle strain in my calf. I don't know anything about anatomy though and don't know what muscle it is. He told me it was sort of deep... it hurts when I bend my leg, and it's difficult/especially painful if I try to stand on my toes on that leg.

Any ideas what the name of the muscle it is/where I can find out?

Thanks.

ps. I'm going back to Montreal tomorrow but my family doctor is in Ontario, so don't tell me to talk to my doctor. It's not easy to see a doctor in Quebec with Ontario health insurance.

A rare muscle strain in the calf? Were you doing any strenuous activity? I would recommend light stretching and a lot of icing. Using heat won't really help heal it, it's usually just good for soothing it. You can mix a little bit of heat in during the day, but mostly ice.

Thanks FF.

Can anyone move this to the Sports & Health forum - I didn't notice it.
