Short Bio:
The Mountain Goats are an American indie rock band formed in Claremont, CA by singer-songwriter John Darnielle. In 2005, New Yorker critic Sasha-Frere Jones praised Darnielle as "America's best non-hip hop lyricist."[/URL] In 2006, Darnielle was included in Paste Magazine's list of the 100 Best Living Songwriters. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mountain_Goats#cite_note-newyorker-0)
Throughout the '90s, The Mountain Goats were known for producing "militantly lo-fi" home recordings (most famously, on a boom box) and releasing recordings in cassette or vinyl 7" format (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_recording)s. Since 2002, the Mountains Goats have transitioned to a more polished approach, recording studio albums with a full band.

Album Info:
The Life Of The World To Come

Drawing his 17th studio album's title from the fourth-century Christian text the Nicene Creed, Mountain Goats singer-songwriter John Darnielle then uses Bible verses to launch into taut, unpretentious tunes that sound flawless (hard-strummed acoustic guitar, spare piano and strings, fat round drums) and scan smartly (finest non-hip-hop lyricist in American pop). Turn to the Good Book for context -- it's only the basis for most Western lit, people -- but there's more than enough here (fear, love, spray paint, etc.) for the most devout atheist. - Spin Magazine

I had actually never heard of this band, btw. But they're actually pretty good.

Good first AF. Congrats!

Tallahassee from 2002 is the first Mountain Goats album with a full band, and much more polished production; and a good introduction to the band.

My favourite album is 'All Hail West Texas'.

I first saw the Mountain goats when they were on one of the shows IFC plays late at night and remember thinking they were really good. I love randomly running to good bands like that.

Good AF Zeek. :thumbup1:
