You use the computer that much? I don't know what you can do besides take more breaks and maybe ice the affected area.

yes follow your drs advice and ask the dr if you can get some elasticated hand things for support [like fingerless gloves]when you can type again, after resting your hands

Rest. You'll be surprised how quickly you recover.

Not necessarily, I have a repetitive motion injury (carpal tunnel) from playing guitar and I haven't been able to play since September and am most likely going to have to get surgery next month.
But either way, you should rest and try getting yourself a wrist support place to allow whatever it is to heal. Check out to see if you have any of the symptoms of carpal tunnel (numbness and tingling in your thumb, index, and middle finger; pain in your wrist and forearm; burning in the elbow) as that is a common injury from extended computer usage.

I'm trying to give optimistic advice.

Ha, fair enough, but I stopped playing only three or four days after I started having pain, and now it's been about five months with very little improvement. So I'm just saying it should be taken seriously and don't expect that it'll feel fine tomorrow, though I hope it does.

If i'm awake, not walking somewhere, and not eating out with friends, i'm on the computer - in class, to read, to work, for recreation, etc

I guess I'm kind of the same way . I guess I've just never had this problem. Occasionally my hands/wrists get tired and I just take a break or a nap.

Masturbate less.
