I'm curious, how many are active in socialist politics? Members of an organisation, fundraising, soapboxing etc? I'm guessing there are quite a few armchair socialists in the house

I'm actively involved. Someone who calls themselves a revolutionary but isn't in a party is just an idealist.

I disagree. I'm active, orginizing and educating, but I'm not a member of a party. The communist parties in the US are useless.

Does it count if one glues the locks to McDonalds, Burger King, Fur Shops and so on? Or is it terrorism?

Im in a certain party, I cant say much as this might be traced back to me, but lets just say that revolutionary activity is not always obvious.

If you're only a socialist if you are a member of a political party, then I'm a lousy, lazy armchair-revolutionary bastard. If organized political activism counts, then I'm an active socialist ;)
Although I've been thinking about joining a political party recently.
From all political parties in my area, the DKP ( German Communist Party ) is probably closest to my ideals, however, they are a pretty tiny group who have been knowing each other for decades, and I don't know anyone from this party. Feels like intruding into some kind of family :(
I will probably go to one of their regular meetings in the future, if I ever have a day off.
I like the Antifascist action, they are VERY active here in Germany, and they do a lot of great work here.

I'm active where i can be. i feel hesitant in joining a party right because i feel too under read, too unsure of what i really stand for yet, but its only a matter of time before i get my shit together.

Oh well, your right comrade, theirs no point in joining a party just for the sake of it. I just feel being in a party and being organized is the best way to influence and affect change.

Partys are pathetic, all they do is meet together, and begin posturing and posing like self rightious idiots, then go home in their 5 door hatchbacks to there 3 bedroom houses for tea and buns. The same goes for practically all western partys from what im told.
Well that was my experiance of socialist alliance recruiting rally i saw a few years ago in london. I was unimpressed.

Depends on what you mean by 'active'. In my area there _are_ organizations that are active in many ways but not affiliated with any political party.

i have little idea as to which denomination of socialism i follow, so how can I possible try to influence others or join an organization. I'm still in the learning process. I have, however, arrived at several conclusions regarding some ideological issues.

Then I think you misinterpreted my post. I was trying ( and failing ) to be sarcastic.

Im a member of resistance socialist youth organisation in brisbane, australia. i occasioanlly help the relativley newly founded socialist alliance in its activities.
My knowledge of socialism is not great however this is certainly not a limitation when organising and recruiting.
I also contribute to the Books not Bombs publication in our area amongst others.
