How do you see, or would find, yourselves in a "socialist" government like the USSR, NKorea, Cuba, etc? Would you plan to have some position in the Communist Party or simply have a common civil work?

Is there some specific reason this question is directly specifically at Stalinists and Maoists, and not at Marxist-Leninists, Hoxhaists, Castroists, or any other [insert name of 'socialist' leader here]ists?

I'm not sure what you're asking, exactly. If I was in the USSR, Cuba, or Maoist China, i'd like to do civil work or industrial work or something. If it were to happen here? I'd love a position in a party, helping to manage things. I want this not because I think I'd "RULE OVER EVERYTHING" Or want benefits or anything, I simply would love to contribute to the revolution as much as possible.

Well ideally I would like to receive answers from those two groups, but also like to hear the answer of all these other "ists".

Hope you have answered honestly.
I asked that question because I had the impression that the supporters of these types of government seem to want positions in the party to have power and privileges, so I'm trying to be sure of what I'm thinking.

If they did I doubt they would openly say so...having that said I think most stalinists on this forum are well meaning people...

In my opinion, I'd be in the factories or fields workin', just like the vast majority. Or are you asking what one would do in a position of power in a "'socialist' government." I read the whole thread and, maybe I'm confused, but I don't know which way to answer you; if you were asking the latter, the answer would be a little different.

With respect I think your impressions are wrong. In ANY party of significance, Marxist-Leninist, Trotskyist, liberal, fascist, there are going to be people in the party simply because they are megalomaniacs. But in my own party there isn't anyone who is involved simply because they want the power and authority to rule over everyone, and if there are they are really good liars. However, it isn't bad to want power, why am I an a party? I am in a party because I want power, and because I want my comrades to have power, this isn't because I think it would be fun to be part of some dictatorship, but for the same reason as anyone chooses to work for socialism: because they believe their party has the right idea of what to do with a country, and how to go about doing it. Nothing wrong with wanting power at all.

I consider myself a form of Marxist-Leninist, and I can tell you that I am fully honest. Not only am I honest, but i'd advance a program to severly limit and CUT the "Privledge" of party membership. It should not be something people WANT to do, unless they REALLY want to.

Absolutely this. I would even go as far as to say that I think that party members should have to also work in some sort of production job (industrial, agricultural) along side any party work so that they are always directly within the reach of the proletariat. That way, they will have to answer to the workers and they will be a part of the workers. Don't let them be career politicians.

But to answer OP, I would honestly much rather be working in a production job than in some bureaucratic position in an office. I wouldn't mind working if I knew that it was for socialism and the good of all of my fellow workers. I would definitely be pursuing academics on the side by reading newspapers, books, and party documents to see how things are going, though.

I believe what Renan is trying to ask (correct me if I'm wrong Renan,) is where do you see yourself, not necessarily in the Socialist Government (working as a political figure), but just living under a Socialist Government? But also maybe where you see yourself as possibly a political figure?

Yes, I mean: "where do you see yourself, not necessarily in the Socialist Government (working as a political figure), but just living under a Socialist Government?"

Excuse me, I could not express myself very well before.

Hey man, it's no problem at all. I guess my original answer of manual labor sticks then. And Nin, thank you for the help comrade.
