Comrade Jawaher Abu Rahmeh murdered by occupation forces in Bil'in
Comrade Jawaher Ibrahim Abu Rahmeh, 34, of the village of Bil'in was murdered on Friday, December 31, 2010 by occupation forces as she protested the Apartheid Wall in her village. Occupation forces shot toxic tear gas at the protesters; Jawaher was taken to hospital in Ramallah, where she died in the morning of January 1, 2011, the first Palestinian martyr of the New Year.
Her brother, Bassem Abu Rahmeh, was killed on April 17, 2009 at another of the weekly protests, shot in the chest by a tear-gas canister. The martyrdom of the Abu Rahmeh siblings exposes the dangerous reality of so-called "less lethal" weapons, poisoning and injuring Palestinians, their land, and their environment,
Comrade Bashir Al-Khairie spoke on behalf of the PFLP at her funeral, where her body was carried by large crowds saluting her steadfastness, courage, and commitment to struggle for the freedom of her people. He emphasized that the crimes of the occupation will not go unpunished and that our people will struggle until all of our rights, including the right to self-determination and return, are achieved.
