I saw a couple of European News reports, one from Sweden and others from different countries.

A lot of the news reporters said that Socialists and Anarchists are allying with Radical Muslims against Israel as well as America.

If this is true, I wanted to know if people on this forum agree with this tactic.

Personally, I believe this is a very wrong path to go down. I'm not saying this on a racial term or anything, but of course the radical Muslims want to impose Sharia law everywhere, as well as create an Islamic fascist state.

I also believe that we should stand in opposition to a theocracy of any kind. Christian, Jewish or Muslim.

you hear this because some 'lefitsts' promote islamist movements because they view them as "anti-imperialist".

i'm not sure any 'leftists' promote "radical islam" or anything like that unless they are specifically religious.

One video.

This video mentions attacks and rape by Leftists, including Anarchists, as well as Muslims in Malmo Sweden.

I would think that the only reason a Socialist or otherwise any sort of anti-Capitalist, would ally themselves with Radical theocratists is their general view of opposition to the current administration of most countries. I do believe that this is wrong as the endpoint of both parties is drastically different.

However, I do believe also that this particular video is very biased and loaded with a bunch of bullshit. I see no hammer and sickle flags in that crowd of Arab League flags.

Allow me to clear this one up.

That video is from CBN - Christian Broadcasting Network. A Christian organisation. Of course it's biased and loaded. The CEO of that organisation is Pat Robertson's son!

Theocracy is contradictory to our goals as leftists, we are polar opposites. The idea of 'leftists promoting radical Islam' is a myth for that reason. It's a myth propagated by reactionaries and enemies of progress like the CBN to attempt to brainwash their viewers into linking leftism with religious radicalism.

Anyone who promotes religious fundamentalism/radicalism is NOT a leftist.

Not only that, but they're interviewing the freakin' Swedish Democrats as if they're some sort of neutral group or something. They are xenophobic racists who spawned out of a group similar to the EDL.

Ahh thank you. I guess I should have done more research into it.

But I did know that the Swedish Democrats are made of ex-Skinheads and one chairman of the party was in the Nordic Reich Party.

David Horowitz and his book Unholy Alliance started some of this during the run up to the Iraq War.

The fight for freedom became one against Nazism, Communism and the "Islamic-Fascism".

Little do people know that the biggest ally to radical Islam was Ronald Reagan.

I don't know how prominent a factor this is in this instance, but right-wingers tend to lump all their enemies into a single, amorphous "Them." Hell, in my area, atheists are sometimes said to be allied with radical Islam.

you hear this because some 'lefitsts' promote islamist movements because they view them as "anti-imperialist.

Sadly, yes, this exists.

What also does though, is that, in the mainstream, all Muslims are equated with 'radical Islam', and that any, often very legitimate, opposition to Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism are subsequently equated with "promoting radical Islam."

Because in the minds of many islamophobes, not hating Islam = supporting jihadists.

It's like those fundies who say (correctly) that the left enables gays. The same mindset is at play, only this time they're wrong.

I don't support Sharia law...but I do support freeing yourself from oppression, and if that has to come to defending yourself against imperialist aggressors (Israel, USA, NATO), so be it. I'm not saying I support the ideology of Al-Qaeda or the Taliban or Hamas, because I don't. I think radical Islamic law is oppressive and all government should be secular. But I am saying if using religion as a way to garner common support among those who are being oppressed, then it is justifiable.
Just like I would support the radical Jewish uprising in Warsaw during WW2. I don't agree with their religious ideology but their race and religion are being oppressed and if they use it to free themselves, who am I to denounce that? Self-determination is something to be supported and if religion helps, great, if nationalism helps, great ,(but be careful) if unions help, great!
