I'm sure I'm not the only one on this site to idolize a few revolutionaries or theoreticians , but last night I got to wondering: Is looking up to someone or having a role model a form of hierarchy in a sense? Maybe I'm crazy, what do you all think?

I would say not... they have no real control over you. You can escape it easily at any time.

Unless someone has a very idiosyncratic definition of "hierarchy," I doubt admiring someone would place you in a hierarchy. You might admire someone based on his or her position within a hierarchy.

Some anarchists might say so, but its the ideas you should be critically admiring not the person.
