"Cuban economists say the blockade has so far cost the economy US$40 billion. Since the collapse of the socialist camp, the US policy has been seriously felt in areas such as food and medicine imports, markets for Cuban exports, shipping costs and access to international financial credits. "

I have another question. Is there any groups of organizations working on trying to eliminate the trade embargo because what it comes down to it hurts the people more than the economy. And if there isn't any group what would it take to start one or at least spread and educate people on how it should be stoped???

I've read an article on (U$) Govenor Ventura supporting an end for the embargo on Cuba. Congress unlike Ventura, has shut bills down to end the embargo (but thats to keep their ignorant constitutents happy). The U$ pays its farmers not to work (with subsidies) while trade would end the subsidies and actually make money to support U$ economy. I think the day Cuba discovers the cure for cancer or aids, the U$ will quickly end the embargo. What hipocrites! The U$ trades with Vietnam and China, but why not Cuba. It just shows how bias and ignorant our leaders are.
