Tongight as my and my father were getting things for new years we went into (Store not to be named right now) to get things for new years, as we are about to leave we go to the liquor part of the establishment. My mother happens to work there. They have her postion right next to a wide open door in sub zero temperatures with the windchill factor approaching negative 30. (i live in Wyoming) she cant wear gloves as she has to handle money, and the store wont pay for a heater, and shes at that postions for ten hours and only gets reprieve on her breaks. The managers get to sit in the back of the store. It was freezing in there, a coustomer of the sotre was kind enough to go to her care to get my mom a pair of fingerless gloves. I brought her a sweater.

isnt this against the law?

What action should i take? Im going to contact the corporate website and the editor at our local newspaper.

What other actions should i take?

Also, info on workers rights in wyoming would be helpful for this sort of thing.

Thank you

Unless she's being actually damaged by the cold it isn't against the law I'm afraid. If its Wal-Mart that you're talking about, I heard they prohibited their workers from unionizing but I don't know if thats changed. Try to convince your mom to join a union should be the first thing. I don't think standing next to a door requires investigative journalism so I don't know how much good contacting a newspaper editor will do. Unless it's a widespread problem affecting multiple people I doubt they will do anything.
But I don't know anything about specific workers rights in Wyoming because I live across the country

¿Que?

It must be really cold and you must be shivering as you type (based on your spelling etc)

But seriously, I think fighting corporations is no small undertaking. You should see if there are any worker's advocacy groups in your area or lawyers that work pro-bono for worker rights.

Also, is she the only one that has this issue. Are there other people that work that same position but at different times? I know that when fighting corporations and businesses, it's always better to have a group of people with the same grievance than a single individual.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
