What are people here planning on doing?

I've had high expectations for this year, but gradually they seem to be falling apart. Originally I was meant to go out with my two best friends (pubs then clubs). Then I found out that one of my friends has got his 16 year old brother tagged along, and while that shouldn't itself be too much of a problem, the dude looks about 12, which will cause some problems + restrict where we can go. Then one of my friends hears from another dude about how he'll be going to the Southbank (area in London) to watch fireworks and drink, and my friend decided he wanted us all to go there instead, but a) it sounds shit and b) nothing south of the Thames is good, so I shot that plan down. In doing so I pissed off said friend and it seems that halfway through tonight he'll be going off with some other people. Meanwhile the third 'best friend' (who is notoriously unreliable) tells me he'll come along but might have to pop off at some point in the night to meet up with a girl. Now I've found out he's bring three people, two of whom I don't know.

So my prediction for tonight is that I'll end up with one of my friends, his 16 (12) year old bro, and two people I don't know.

Unless I get extremely lazy, there's tons of parties and an anti-prison demo.

Having a small-ish party with a lot of people that I like and haven't seen in a while, fuck yeah.

Going to a hotel-sponsered NYE party event where some famous UK DJ called Eddie Halliway will preform...so I guess for NYE I'll be at a rave or something.

Too bad my family will be there, if it was just me and some friends I would try scoring some MDMA and roll face all night long and try to meet some cute ladies.

Was going to go for a party down the road but it got called off due to swine flu. I'm thinking I'm just gonna go and sit around at my friends flat and not do much, going to the football at one o clock tomorrow which I don't want to sleep through.
Also got laid off today so can't really be bothered to do too much/spend too much money.

New years ever is normally a let down. Ended up a shit party last year that I had to walk two hours to get somewhere with a bus from, the year before was an alright party, the year before that was a god awful 'party' on a farm. I'm generally of the opinion to sack it off from now on.

Still quite a few people from Europe online by this time... :p I can't say that I'm ashamed to join you at this time (1 AM), though. I used to be willing to go through the cold and the kids throwing firecrackers just to get to the city and get drunk, but I just don't feel the urge any more. Any other time will do. I already have a few occasions planned to celebrate the new year with lots of alcohol with all the cool people in my life later on, and that's cool.

So this evening was pretty relaxed and uneventful. We went to visit granma who had German TV on when we came in. Just in time to see Dutch, German and Australian national hero André Rieu, the only man who can get people to dance to classical music. Whoopdedoo. Nothing wrong with him though. There is no greater joy in life than telling music snobs that you like Rieu, and for that joy alone, I do appreciate the man.

Since 1954, a typical Dutch TV tradition on new year's eve is the "old year's conference" by some great comedian or another, reviewing the year in hilarious fashion. This year, just like last year, there did not appear to be much laughs. Luckily, Comedy Central came to the rescue by showing classic Freek de Jonge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freek_de_Jonge) clips from back when he was still funny. Hilarity guaranteed.

So how was your 2010? For me, 2009 was great, while this year was pretty uneventful, so it's only fitting that this new year's eve is just like the year itself. In fact, I think I'll just go to bed "early". Good night and happy new year!

The face of social revolution.

Surprisingly, the media are reporting that it was a quiet and fun NYE in all the big cities. Talk about uneventful. Normally, there are always scare stories about how kids are setting shit on fire, assaulting medics, firemen and cops, and lighting all kinds of illegal fireworks, and that this means that SOCIETY IS GOING TO HELL IN A [email protected]!1111 But apparently, this year, there are no "major incidents", nor any RACE RIOTS!!111 What a relief. Looks like polite society has extended its stay for another year without EVERYTHING DESCENDING INTO CHAOS AND ANARCHY!!!11

actualy i really liked the old years show this time, the VARA (former socialist broadcaster) comedians relentsly assaulted Geert Wilders and the CDA (Christian Democrats), not everything was funny but i saw more progressive political balls in that hour than the whole year in politics and the serious media.
i wouldnt be suprised if by tomorow morning the whole VARA is outlawed, the comedians arrested and the channel guy who OK'd this for broadcast brought behind an barn and shot. :thumbup1:

tryin to work out the plans right now. its about 4:30 PM (16:30) atm. looks like we're headed to a few parties in seattle which is how it usually goes, but there's snow on the ground and nobody wants to drive. i guess i'll probably do it if i can't talk somebody else into it, but really, really, really not looking forward to it; driving in seattle is already a nightmare without the snow and the holiday/drunkenness....:\

I went to a friend of mines place to celebrate, and we had a good time. Unfortunately I passed out though (yes, of course before midnight), and now I've woken up but everyone else is sleeping, there is no more booze, and it's apparently impossible to get a cab.

God damn cab companies should be immediately nationalised as they can't provide the service they are supposed to, and no I don't care if it's 'new years eve'. Grr.

Really? Wow, guess I missed out. I'll have to watch it today or tomorrow then.

I did briefly catch Guido Weijers on SBS6, taking some potshots at Wilders and Balkenende, but he didn't get any major laughs. Funny, but not "ha-ha" funny, you know?
