Why the fuck would "socialists" behave like sexually repressed Bible belt yahoos?

Doesn't socialism and the equality of men and women require a climate that is neither repressive nor exploitative?

If I want to get off by watching some amateur video of two attractive people fucking, why should anyone give a shit?

We're better than the Christian and Muslim crazies.

I guess "Chinese conservatives?" Never heard Chicon before..

But anyway, clearly it's a violation of individual rights. I'm all for individuals refraining from it and exercising self-control (it is, basically, a drug, one of the most addictive ones at that), but it's none of the state's business. The Leftist position is clearly to oppose such infringement on rights.

The Chicon position is to oppose the extension of civil liberties and democratic freedoms and the creation of a welfare state in Hong Kong because doing so is against the interest of both local and Mainlander bourgeois interests.

I'm not insinuating that they're conservatives (though most evidence points to a great deal of social conservatism), just that they're not really socialists and that those who say they are Western rightists looking to ferment opposition against an imagined enemy to further their own ends.

At this point, any conflict between China and the West would be merely a manifestation of factional conflicts among elements of the bourgeoisie looking to fatten their own piece of the pie.

Any debate over China policy in a Western country (beyond anti-authoritarian rhetoric from idealistic left-liberals like the Aussie Greens and a handful of politicians in Canada and the U.S.) like the United States is generally over whether Western bourgeois interests are best served by cooperation with China (Bill Clinton being an archetypical support of this position in the United States) or by conflict with China (former GOP House Majority leader Tom DeLay, for instance). Neither side is one that a leftist ever ought to take.

I think he meant chicoms which is a derogatory word for Chinese Communists. It's the equivalent of "Japs" or Ruskie.
