If a revolution, not just a Communist or Marxist revolution, but just a broad left-wing revolution, were to occur in America, what most likely would follow afterwards? What would you do after? How would you like to see American society shaped?

I was discussing this with a fellow comrade and I say that if workers councils did in fact spontaneously arise within American industrial complexes, then I would push forth the motion to give these councils federal recognition, as well as legislative power. Any citizen may vote for a delegate of a local council. Elected delegates can be recalled at any time, by consensus of immediate vote of citizens. I would recall all military troops currently engaged in combat in the Middle east. I would also put forth in the new legislature the motion to repeal the PATRIOT Act. I would produce a new system of education. Repeal the no child left behind act. Only textbooks that require contemporary changes once every few years will be purchased to replace the old; non-changing subjects such as English, Mathematics, Physics, etc, the books shall be used for a period of 15 years before a resupply.

In a large company, if the CFO or CEO deserts or abandons his post due to the ever increasing rise of workers power, the workers of said company may have the right to elect a Workers Council and thus bring production, planning, and sales into the hands of the workers themselves.

If all goes well, with economic planning and such, such as an end to these recessions as well as an abundance of government funds, then I would also put forth the motion of Universal Health Care to all citizens. State funded Universities will be free to attend, however, I support the fact of them becoming more competitive, thus the intelligentsia of America will grow more and more.

That's all I can really think of right now.

How would you envision American society if a Leftist revolution were to happen?

Depends on what you mean by left-wing. Anti-capitalist or just liberal? If it was the former, I would assume socialism would be implemented in some form or another, and then hopefully the progression to communism would occur.

If it was more of a liberal, Commondreams-esque revolution then we'd probably end up like a Scandinavian nation.

But if socialism was not implemented, there would still be much more work to do, in my eyes.

Were already like a scandanavian nation.

I'm not sure on how it would end up. In all likeliness if left views were even remotely accepted by the people in such away to make a "revolution", I have a feeling it might end up with in the same way that the "Carnation Revolution" ended up in Portugal. It'd peter out at some point.

The problem is that that will never happen under the present system of the government. Americans are too attached to their nation's history. It's almost like a religion in itself in the way that they worship their founding fathers and the constitution is basically a religious document for most Americans. The Constitution of the United States in no way would allow for socialism to happen. The Bourgeoisie would call the reforms "unconstitutional" and that would be that. The entire system would have to be destroyed with a new one put into place: socialism.

How so?

Sweden is quite neoliberal these days.

Anyway, this little text by Trotsky is a fun read I think: If America Should Go Communist (http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/1934/08/ame.htm)
