As I and my ex-husband, who has published 3 books, two of which were science fiction, were discussing for an outline for another novel, I brought up the idea that with the next peoples revolution, there wont be warfare as it has been in the past, but will be done by bringing down the bank systems, through manipulating technology, over the web, etc, because the ruling class is much more reliant on those things than the working class

I told him, we need to coin the name of this revolution before anyone else does, because it will come and of course it will be used in the book.

The names I came up with were, Ethical Revolution (less loss of life), Technical Revolution, bringing down systems that the ruling class rely on. He came up with 21st century Revolution, Bloodless Revolution, though I disagreed with that, because bloodshed will happen, just not in great numbers.

Then I thought, I shall take it here, to ask for others opinions.

If you were the one to name this 21st century, ethical, bloodless revolution, what would it be?

21st century revolution is the only one that makes any sense to me. I don't think the revolutionaries will be concerned about the ethics of overthrowing the oppressing class. And bloodless doesnt make sense for obvious reasons

Post-revolution revolution? Um, digital revolt or insurrection. IDK, I chew on it, and get back to you if something interesting occurs to me.

I really like system backlash. That has a really nice ring to it. :thumbup1:

It sort of plays on the idea of computer systems, but also social systems as well.

Network insurgency is pretty good, actually.

Sorry but political power still grows from the barrel of a gun, no matter how many layers of technological interface mask it. I can't imagine any 'postmodern revolution' like this, especially not in the USA.. if a ruling class is threatened they will do all they can to preserve themselves, including massacre. I realise this is an idea for a fictional novel, but still i think its incorrect and idealist.. the most suitable name imho is a term Robespierre used when he criticised the more timid french revolutionaries, he said they wanted a "revolution without revolution".

10 million striking workers can make the economy of an entire nation grind to a halt without a single shot being fired.

Power doesn't grow out of a gun any more than it grows out of a ballot box.
