a monarchist?

Like, what?

As in he wants to bring back the British monarchy to the US or that he wants a different monarchical house to take over the US and call it the Kingdom of America or whatever?

Who needs a king if you could have an emperor?

Now all that Red America's friend has to do is finding a decendent of this fine man and some allies. I've heard there's already a secret monarchist (emperorist?) plan which will be revealed to anybody who reads Michael Parenti's "Against Empire" backwards (just take the title: "Empire Again[st]")!!!

Me would have though that the adventures of bush daft not quite playing with the full deck son of bush in charge would have given you lot enough taste of heritery government.

They think that the U.S. government would be more competent and serve the people instead of special interests if we had a queen like the U.K. or a king that didn't have to go through the whole election circus. To paraphrase him.

I always took him for more of a libertarian type so this is surprising.

If you're using the American definition of libertarian (Alex Jones), then it's not surprising at all. Most of those 'Libertarians' think that people deserve ultimate freedom, but simultaneously, people are not trustworthy and need heavy governance by an unelected council. An incorruptible unelected council.

Make sure to keep him around as your friend. He can be utilized to great effect in enraging liberals to a humorous degree.

I find how seemingly almost everyone in SF played along with his act to be something pretty awesome.

I too am curious about this guy and why he would advocate a monarchy.

I've definitely noticed a strong anti-democratic element among many people calling themselves libertarian. Just look at the anarcho-monarchism of Hans Herman Hoppe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans-Hermann_Hoppe) for an extreme example.

it makes perfect sense if he is an (american) libertarian, they believe in the absolute sanctity of property, and inheritance, the logical result is absolute monarchy

I see the potential but I'm not quite sure how to get there. Please explain.
