It seems that the FMLN wants to be leftist, without angering the boss (US) too much. This seems to be the pattern of leftist politics in Latin America (for example: Lula in Brazil).

I don't expect much (or anything for that matter) from an elected official, but still it's a good sign that the people of El Salvador are actually considering the left as an option and thinking more radically.
