Hey Comrades,
I was doing a bit of a search for the thread with all the humorous anti-religious images...etc.
(Did it get deleted - possibly?)
Could some someone please be kind enough to provide a link for it?
Thanks in Anticipation,,,

Thanks for the prompt replies Comrades.
I don't really post very much here, but I like to drop by and read all that interesting material you guys manage to accumulate.
There is a wealth of knowledge for scholars of ALL Leftist persuasions and levels of education.
The tricky thing is to share all that knowledge without seeming arrogant and condescending to the newer comrades.
Even in my very limited way, it's nice to feel a part of such a community that is working together - for such noble goal
These images are awesome, I wanted to share them with some friends unfamiliar with RevLeft, who I was sure they would would definitely appreciate.
The seasonal timing was no coincidence either.
Anyway, thanks guys - it's nice to find helpful people out here when you need them.:D
P.S. Happy New Year by the way.;)

Thanks for the help guys, but now it's not letting me view the thread.
I can't think of any obvious reason for the change.
It let me view the topic with only one or two posts, but now that I have three of four it becomes a problem.
Is this a policy issue, or just some arbitrary bug.
Delete cookies? or Something... :blushing:
Cheers Guys.:)

Why is everyone so anti-religion here? I'm agnostic myself, though I realize historically the church has been oppressive and supportive of corrupt dictatorships religion is harmless and doesn't really have much political power here in the west...except maybe the Israeli lobbies but they arent really religious. Personally I think Jesus' teachings agree completely with Socialism, and though I'm not a Christian, I think we should be accepting of all religions. Socialism is strained as is, we can't afford to exclude people

Why is everyone so anti-religion here?Actually there are differeng views on the correct approach on religion amongst the left. My personal opinion is that religious people should not be persecuted in a socialist society, and that in capitalist countries the left must protect working class people belonging to religious minorities against racists and chauvinists.
However, neither should religion as a phenomenon in any way be supported. On the contrary it should be worked against by the means of scientific progress and quality education, and deprivation of public support and propaganda opportunities for religious organisations, in a socialist society.
Personally I think Jesus' teachings agree completely with SocialismWhether he was some kind of proto-socialist or not, Christ also taught pacifism and submission to authority. But if self-identified Christians are prepared to ignore this with whatever justification, then I guess they can join (and indeed have in the past joined) revolutionary causes, as long as they don't otherwise have opposing views.
As the left is getting increasingly progressive in social issues such as womens, gay, etc rights, this regularly causes some tension as well. But, again, Christians who are willing to forget the teachings of the bible in this regard as well should probably not face much difficulties in the revolutionary left movement.
Our own Religion subforum has many examples of how it can sound when these issues are discussed, check it out. ;)
and though I'm not a Christian, I think we should be accepting of all religions.Personally I wish to advance scientific thinking and atheism amongst the working class, and think that a socialist society should do so, by democratic means. But as long as religious people accept this, and are also prepared to strive for a fully secular society with secular education for all etc, I'm happy to stand side by side with them in the struggle.

Why is everyone so anti-religion here?I think that there is a scope for healthy scepticism of ALL dogmatic thought in a socialist society.
While I am I very sympathetic of the Original Teachings of JC - It's not not hard to see how those ideas have been corrupted and distorted - perhaps In a not dissimilar way to way the original teachings of people like Marx and his associates have been corrupted and distorted by their less sincere disciples.
Anyway not to labour a metaphor, I think it's fair enough to ridicule the religious dogmatism of the original message, without ridiculing a constructive religious sentiment.
Don't forget that much of that material (Like the "Chick(en) Tracts") is coming from the religious right - not just us godless Anthiests.
You've got to laugh at these maniacs, it's much too scary to contemplate the alternative. I lie at wake at night worring about what is going to hppen after 'The Rapture";). There is certainly plenty of funny of material there.
I hope you guys have seen "This Godless Communism" comic strip - PM me if you can't find it - I can't post the link yet (sorry dudes).
There is a real treasure trove of material at the site (and it seems to restrain from promoting any obvious political partisanship: The whole site (PM me for the address) for authentichistory site - has some useful, well worth perusing material - check it out Comrades.
Find these sights - (if you can) ;)
Enjoy - it's not a one way street by any means.;)
Have fun guys!;)
